Lipsticks So Healthy You Could Almost Eat Them

A question that used to weird me out was “what does the lipstick taste like?”. When I first started blogging about beauty products (and in particular lip products), the taste was something I didn’t think I needed to comment on but you’d be surprised how many people ask!

Licking lipstick off my lips isn’t something that I do if I can help it (it kind of freaks me out – it’s not knowing what it is that I’m ingesting but I’m funny about things like parabens anyway!) but it is said that women ingest as much as 7 pounds of lipstick in to her body, either absorbed through the skin of her lips or swallowed when eating. Eeeeks.

So I was intrigued to find out that Antipodes had created and released the first UK lipstick line which known as the ‘Healthy Lipstick’ because the collection is inspired by natural health supplements. Intriguing, indeed! But wait, what did this even mean, though?! Well, it means that Antipodes new Moisture-Boost Lipsticks* (£19.00) are formulated with some of nature’s most nourishing ingredients including:
  • Avocado Oil
  • Calendula Oil
  • Evening Primrose Oil
  • Arian Oil
  • Shea Butter
  • Jojoba Oil

All the ingredients are selected for their extra moisturising, hydrating, anti-inflammatory properties, but most importantly, the formula (and USP) is safe to consume as well as keeping your lips looking healthy. It actually doesn’t taste like anything which I’m pleased to report, but I’m less freaked out about ingesting it now!

I love the conditioning lipsticks (which comes in 12 beautiful colours in a matte satin finish) for it’s long wear and it’s vibrancy, I have been applying it at 8:15am before making my way to work and there’s still colour on my lips at 3pm – after a couple of teas and lunch. It would, of course, be better to freshen up the lip with a new layer of lippy, but because the lipstick is bold to begin with, the colour fades nicely in to a deep tint thoughout the day.

  1. These sound like great lipsticks, I love anything that is hydrating on the lips. I'm a little weirded out by the thought of ingesting lipstick too, I'm so conscious of not licking anything off my lips or being super careful when I eat whilst I'm wearing it 🙂 xx

  2. These are such gorgeous shades! I'd never really thought about what goes into a lipstick! But as a cosmetic lab technician I know they wouldn't put any materials in that are unsafe for your lips! Xx
