At the time of writing this, it’s London Fashion Week and the closest thing I’ll get to LFW is this LookFantastic Beauty Box* which is themed around the glamorous event. It’s not as sad as it sounds, honest! In fact, I’d like to be frank (who’s Frank? #dadjoke), I’m very happy to view the coverage from the comfort of my home in the frosty region of the North East.
LookFantastic Beauty Box | The Runway Edition
If you had spoken to me about fashion shows, models, trends, and runway when I was a fashion student at college and university, I would have been yapping away excitedly, but having taken a step back and realising the fashion world in general is certainly not for my introverted personality (I would describe myself more accurately as an ‘extroverted introvert; but an introvert nonetheless) and I’m ok with. I’m not going to pretend or feign enthusiasm, because as much as I love the buzz and the good kind of goosebumps you get from being at a fashion show and nice clothes, the hysteria that surrounds Fashion Week kinda terrifies me!
Anyway, going back to LookFantastic beauty box for February which is nod to Fashion Week (would much rather this anyway than a Valentines theme), subscribers will get 6 beauty products from premium brands for £13 per box. It’s the closest I’ll get to LFW.
LookFantastic Beauty Box | The Runway Edition
I know there are A LOT of beauty boxes around and I’m very familiar with most of them after trying them out, but one thing I like to do is try to distinguish what their unique selling point is.
From what I gather, everyone has received the same items. If your gripe about beauty boxes is that you can never guarantee that you’ll get the same contents as someone else (resulting in, understandably, disappointed customers) then Look Fantastic might be the best option.
Here is what’s inside this month’s LookFantastic Beauty Box:
LookFantastic Beauty Box | The Runway Edition

Polaar Icy Magic Roll On, £25

Do you suffer from puffy, tired eyes? Then I would recommend Polaar’s Icy Magic Roll On. To me, this was the product that stood out most when I opened the box, and after a few sleepless nights, I couldn’t wait to try this on the eye contour area. I don’t think it has any effectiveness in combating wrinkles, so it is another added step to your morning routine before you apply your usual eye cream, but Icy Magic Roll On is like gliding an ice cube over your skin! It’s immediately cooling, energising, and feels sooo refreshing on skin.

Model Co. Eye Lites Metallic Shadow, £15

I would love to say that I suit metallic eyeshadows but no matter how much I make it work, I must accept defeat. Model Co. are a great brand and this eyeshadow shade is super pretty; it’s bronze with an iridescent diamond effect – it can be used on it’s own or over your eyeshadow of choice, but anything this shimmery doesn’t suit me. I don’t have a large area above my eyes to work with and something as sparkly as this only makes my eyes appear smaller. But I will be passing it on to someone who wants it, nothing EVER goes to waste around here!

This Works Deep Sleep Stress Less, £12

I really like This Works products, and this little roll-on is ideal for stressful times. It has a calming infusion of eucalyptus and lavender to fight tension and insomnia. I find that it’s quite reassuring to carry something like this around in your handbag. I’m quite a stresshead so I always have Rescue Remedy with me but I might see if Deep Sleep Stress Less is better for helping me to feel more at ease.

MyVitamins Catwalk Queen (Supplement), £6.49

There are so many types of supplements out there, and it can be overwhelming to know which one is most effective for you. They’re expensive too so yeah, there’s that. It’s nice to have someone recommend something and tell you a bit about it which is exactly what LookFantastic have done here. MyVitamins Catwalk Queenn is a blend of vitamins, minerals, and extracts including Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Zinc and Bamboo Extract to boost the natural appearance of hair, skin, and nails.

The Ordinary Natural Moisturising Factors +HA, £5

I’ve been hearing a lot about The Ordinary lately, so I’m extremely pleased to see this face moisturiser amongst this month’s LookFantastic’s Beauty Box selection! I have so many creams and lotions to go through so I haven’t actually opened this yet, but I like anything with Hyaluronic Acid on during winter, it’s great for dry and dehydrated skin. It makes your skin plumper too. It cost around £5 for the 30ml tube, so it’s a really affordable price.

Borghese Fango Mud Mask, £23

The first time I heard of this brand was in Sex And The City when they were confessing what the SSB is (Secret Single Behaviour) and Miranda’s was that she wears Borghese conditioning gloves while watching infomercials. Remember that? I opened this cute little pod of pink coloured clay based mask and applied it to my skin, but I soon realised that it contained parabens. I don’t like using skincare that has parabens in it. The pod was cute, and you can get 3 uses out of it, it was also quite a novelty to use a pink face mask (think this is my first time) and the clay softened my skin, but I wouldn’t repurchase for as long as it the formula includes parabens.
This month, all subscribers will receive a free copy of the latest Elle Magazine too.
