Benefit teased us with these during the festive period and if you were one of the lucky ones who received the exclusive Benefit They’re Real Big Sexy Lip Kit, you would have been the first ones to try the new lipsticks before it was officially launched.
Benefit They’re Real Double The Lip
Adding to their very popular, best-selling They’re Real range, Benefit’s first big release of the year are 8 brand new lipsticks. You will notice that They’re Real Double The Lip’s packaging design is inline with the rest of the collection so it is instantly recognisable.

Trust Benefit to come up with something different; These lipsticks are a lipstick and lip liner 2-in-1 (and interesting concept). When you take the lid off, you will see a tear-shaped tip with two complementing shades in it. Benefit have carefully chosen the shades, so even though they look completely different to one another, they actually go together really well.
Lipstick With A Built-In Lip Liner
There are 8 shades to choose, including nudes, reds, and pink options. The nudes and soft rose pinks are very wearable whereas the hot pinks and reds are more suited to a night out because of how vibrant they are.
I love all 8 shades but my favourite is Lusty Rose (a rose pink) for the daytime and Flame Game (a vibrant warm orange) for an evening occasion.
Now… I confess, I don’t wear lipliner. I know I should (and I’ve got like, 3 in my make-up collection) but I usually can’t be bothered to do that extra step. So in that sense, these lipsticks are made for people like me.
Although, the built-in lip liners in They’re Real Double Lip doesn’t perform like a traditional true lip liner where it prevents lip colour from bleeding out but it does give definition to your lips which make them appear visibly fuller. It’s also worth noting that the lipstick part and the lip liner part are both the similar in texture.
One tiny thing that grumbles me slightly is the angled tip which is great for when you’re applying to the top lip, you can see what you’re doing but you’ve got to pivot the lipstick so the lip liner end is at the bottom to apply to the lower lip. The base of the packaging sticks up in the air and obstructs from see where you’re actually gliding the lipstick on to.
It’s not a catastrophe though, They’re Real Double The Lip have a smooth, moisturising formula with a satin sheen finish that doesn’t require much of a laborious effort in comparison to a matte lipstick.
Another thing is that it claims to be 8 hour long wear, but it lasted 2 hours on my lips before it started to fade, leaving the darker liner still visible. Haha, I was mortified when I looked in the mirror – but now I know to check on it and touch up when I wear this lip product. It does feel nice on lips, which I love.
They’re Real Double The Lip are available to buy now and retail for £16.50 per lipstick. I heard that there might be a mini deluxe sample of this lipstick in Birchbox next month (March). Keep your eyes peeled!

I love the idea of these but like you am not sure as they are used will they continue to deliver the perfect outline. The application sounds great for the top lip but not so much for the bottom Lucy x
I like the idea of these but don't know about the colours being right next to each other… I think it would work better if they were double sided!
