If you’re not a morning person and you can’t drink coffee – what’s a girl to do?!
Oh, how I wish I was one of those people who leap out of bed with sheer happiness that the morning has come round again. But I have never ever been a morning person, unfortch – I promise you that I’ve tried my darn hardest to be! What can I say? I’m a night owl!
Every morning, I snooze my alarm clock for at least 30 minutes before my eyes are fully open, and another 15 to get my butt out of bed. And I’m grumpy until, at least, 11am. Especially as the dark and cold mornings have well and truly returned. *Groan*.

Tips On How To Feel More Awake

It could all be fix by going to sleep earlier, I know – but it’s not as easy as that. It takes me forever to fall asleep and my brain overthinks EVERYTHING at night. I use products like lavender bath oils and pillow spray in the evening to promote a healthy night sleep, and they do work! But what I’ve discovered recently are products that help you feel more awake in the morning.
And what a difference it makes.

Tips On How To Feel More Awake In The Morning (when you're not a morning person!)
For most people, a quick hit of caffeine first thing in the morning would do the trick but I’ve switched to decaf because I still love the taste of coffee, but not how paranoid and jittery it makes me feel. I especially can’t drink it when I’m tired, it triggered a panic attack once so I’m scared it will happen again. So ‘real’ coffee in the morning is out of the question.
Obviously a good breakfast sets you up nicely – and some people boost their energy by going for a run – the latter is something I don’t have the willpower to do (hey, I’m just being honest!) but I have a few other tricks up my sleeve to help me feel better and look more awake (and alive!) in the mornings so that by the time I’m out the door, I feel prepared to take on the day ahead.
Optrex ActiMist 2 in 1 Eye Spray for Dry & Irritated Eyes

Optrex ActiMist 2 in 1 Eye Spray for Dry & Irritated Eyes, £15.99 (shop here)

Eye drops are something I buy everytime I travel by plane or go on holiday because it works a treat to soothe my eyes from pollution, air conditioning, and dryness that tiredness can cause. I want to feel awake for the day and get the most of it my holidays. So why have I never considered using them on a daily basis until now?
I took the Optrex Dare To Stare Blink Challenge and I couldn’t outblink Rodrigo (can you?), which means my eyes could possibly be dry and is a contributing factor to my sleepy state. In fact, sometimes dry eyes trick my brain in to thinking I’m tired when I’m actually not.
It’s more than likely that the last thing I do at night is watch Netflix in bed or scroll through social media on my phone which is a factor in causing dry eyes. I’ll also spend the entire day on the computer working too, which strains and irritates them.
A spray of Optrex ActiMist 2 in 1 Eye Spray for Dry & Irritated Eyes in the morning to stabilise the eye’s natural protective moisture barrier as well as helping to refresh and soothes my eyes making them feel less dry and tired throughout the day.
If you’re not good with putting eye drops in, don’t worry – because this is a spray which is applied to closed eyelids! It’s really easy to use, and is contact lens and make-up compatible so it allows to fit in to your routine without any interference at all. It has become one of my handbag essentials as it can be used up to 4 times a day.
