I was excited to receive this month’s Birchbox* as I had seen a preview of it on Twitter. For the June 2016 edition, Birchbox has designed two boxes with the cutest, Summer-y prints on it. One, as you can see in my photos, is a palm tree on a light blue background. And the other is a pineapple print on a bubblegum pink background.

June 2016 Birchbox

I was hoping that I’d receive the pineapple one since I loooove anything with pineapples on them! But actually, it was nice to be surprised with something different! I really like the palm trees, it looks really cute but honestly, the outer packaging doesn’t matter as long as the contents of the box is impressive (and it is, btw!)

June 2016 Birchbox
Before I get on to the beauty product (sorry – just going to talk about the packaging a little bit longer!!), it is worth noting that this month’s Birchbox design is a cute little pull out drawer. I hope they stick to this as it would be great to glue the boxes on top of each other to fashion a set of drawers out of them!
RIGHT. Now on to the contents! ?

Absolution Le Nettoyant Pureté (facial cleanser)
As soon as I read that this cleanser is gentle and doesn’t leave your skin feeling tight, I couldn’t wait to use this! It has natural ingredients such as chamomile and oats, and is a gel formula.
I usually don’t get on as well with a gel cleanser than I do with cream but I haven’t had any problems with this. My face doesn’t feel tightened, or drying, or irritated. Another great recommendation by Birchbox, I think I’ll be buying the full size version of this after the sample has been used up.
James Read Overnight Tan Sleep Mask For Face
I would really love to use this but I am not confident enough to do so yet because… well… what if the colour develops to be too dark or if I’ll end up with orangey streaks across my face? I’ll put it aside for now, but if anyone has used this yet, please let me know what it’s like. The idea is to use this on the night before you go to bed and let it do it’s thing while you catch some Zzz’s.

Laura Mercier Ambre Vanille Souffle Body Creme
I love Laura Mercier bath and body products, they are so luxurious! It’s always on my Christmas list!
If you like your body products to be heavily scented, then do check out the Souffle Body Cremes from Laura Mercier. Or if you’re not sure, you can try them via Birchbox this month, of course. The scents are delicious, sweets, strong and last for hours and hours and hours!

Percy & Reed Reassuringly Firm Session Hold Hairspray
I always welcome Percy & Reed products in these beauty subscription boxes! The packaging are beautiful and the products always works a treat on my hair!
This hairspray comes in a travel sized so I can put it in my handbag or makeup and carry it around with me. My hair is too short to put up at the moment but the spray keeps the flyaways to a minimum.
I got my haircut a couple weeks ago and have had some dramazz with it. Long story short: Got my haircut and I didn’t like it. I basically said this on social media (my words were that I was “gutted about my new hair do and couldn’t wait to get it fixed in a couple of months” and disclosed where I got it cut at. That was it! But the salon didn’t like that I had mentioned their name and they RANG me (out of the blue) to ask for the comment to be removed. It wasn’t a bad haircut, the stylist who cut it was the most friendliest, most loveliest lady ever, and I AM honestly learning to make my new style work for me until it grows out – but… it just didn’t look anything like the photo I bought into the salon and at the time, I genuinely was very upset! I’m just very fussy with my hair.
Funnily enough, the salon didn’t ask me to remove my comment on Twitter last year when I said that they were the best salon I had ever been to.

ANYWAY! I’m getting sidetracked. Basically, any styling or conditioning treatments that helps me do my hair is very welcome at the moment! *sob sob* With a bit of patience (and lots of hair products), it will soon be back to normal again.

Jelly Pong Pong Paradise Pigments
This full size pot is a hydrating 2-in-1 lip and cheek tint in a creamy formula. It features ingredients such as pumpkin seed oil and rhubarb extract to help the cream glide on effortlessly.
I received it in the shade called Cake Pop which is a pretty coral pink. The first thing you’ll notice is how bright and bold in the pot and if my past experience with Jelly Pong Pong is anything to go by, there is power in the pigments.
The cream tint is pigmented as expected but this type of product is supposed to be very bendable (which it is), so it’s actually very easy to work into your skin and also on lips for a subtle hint of colour!
June 2016 Birchbox
Birchbox is a monthly beauty subscription box. For £10 per month (£2.95 P&P) you will receive a themed box containing 5-6 beauty products from premium, niche brands.

  1. It's been so long since I cancelled my Birchbox subscription! I do really miss getting a surprise box of beauty through the door. This looks like a really great box. I love the packaging design too – Really summery.
