There was a time when I was eternally grateful for the invention of hair straighteners. I ironed my hair until I got that straighter than straight look. Even when I didn’t even need to use the hair iron, I went ahead and used it anyway. It was a part of my morning routine and I just didn’t feel right if I hadn’t straightened my hair that day. Call it an obsession but we were inseparable.

A New Way To Straighten Your Hair
Then I realised how bad it was for my hair and I cursed my straighteners for being the reason I had to get 6 inches of fried and frazzled hair lobbed off. What the hell, straighteners? I thought you were my best friend!
I vowed to take better care of my hair and to use straighteners, or any hair appliance for that matter, in moderation. Luckily for me, that ‘just got out of bed’ hair became fashionable and I managed to live without straighteners for quite a few years! I noticed a big different in that my hair was in a better condition for longer periods of time.

L’Oreal Professionel Steampod
These days, I have been reacquainted with my GHD’s (in rose gold, no less) but most recently (well, since Christmas which only seems like yesterday) I have been using the L’Oreal Professionel Steampod*! I (reluctantly) use my GHD’s to curl my hair, it gives me the beautiful beach waves that I’ve always wished for! But when it comes to straightening, I use the Steampod.

L’Oreal Professionel Steampod is a better alternative than your usual hair straighteners in the sense that it doesn’t damage your hair as much. Less dry, less frazzle, less fried!
You fill the connected pod with water to help release high pressure steam from the main part of the appliance. You can also remove the comb and curl your hair with it, but I haven’t tried that yet. I need to check out some tutorials online first!

Unlike regular GHD’s which can be really drying, the steam from the Steampod sets your locks, making it look shiny, smooth and glossy one stroke at a time. It has 5 temperature settings from 140º to 240º, I normally just use at 180º (because I’m trying to be good to my hair!) but for great results, crank it up to 200º. It doesn’t just straighten, the steam gives your hair a bit of a bounce and texture too.

It comes in the original white design or the brand new Limited Edition Brazil Fantasy which has a fabulously colourful design on it! The only downside to Steampod is that it’s quite chunky and not so suitable for travelling. But it is very easy to use, it’s suitable for all hair types and it gives you great results!
Full RRP is £185 but it’s currently on offer at LookFantastic for £145.

I've heard really great things about these steam products. My ends always become so damaged for styling products.

How pretty! I love the idea of using the steam for styling, curls with these would look so shiny and luscious! Now ideal for travel, but I'm sure they will come out with something more compact for travellers eventually!

That's so cool! I love the cute pattern on it too. I don't think I have used a product like that before. I just use my NUME straightener for everything ha XX
What a cool idea! And the design is darling!

This sounds like a good idea but not sure it'll tear me away from my ghd's though. Such pretty packaging too

I used to straighten my hair all the time but then I really went off the look of really straight hair on me and now I haven't straightened it myself for a year or so. I tried the Steampod last year and I did like it but there were a few things about it I'd like to see improved, only small things though x
