When you think of a cosmetic highlighter, the words that come to mind would usually be shimmery, shine, and glow. Am I right?! Well, Benefit Cosmetics have recently launched Dandelion Shy Beam*, a MATTE liquid highlighter. So how does a matte liquid highlighter work to give you that same radiance as say, High Beam?!

Benefit’s Dandelion Shy Beam | A Matte Liquid Highlighter
Dandelion Shy Beam made it’s first appearance in Benefit’s Operation Pore-Proof beauty kit back in May last year but you can now purchase it on it’s own and in full size.
Benefit created Dandelion Shy Beam with those with oily skin in mind as not everyone is suited all that shimmer and shine. If the glow is a concern, you should try this new offering from Benefit. No glow whatsoever!

The matte liquid highlighter is a nude peachy pink that gives a matte radiance. If you’ve ever used their High Brow pencil, you will get where I’m going with this!
The consistency of the highlighter is thick and creamy, with a liquid-to-powder finish. You can apply this like any other highlighter, on your cheekbones, brow bones, and down the centre of your nose.

It takes some time getting used to this. Before Shy Beam, I have only ever used shimmery highlighters.
Shy Beam requires more blending than High Beam otherwise it will just seem like I’ve applied the wrong shade of foundation to my skin! You will need to apply three small strokes to your cheeks (like little whiskers) and pat over with your fingers and then use a brush or blending sponge in circular motions to blur the edges and ensure it’s all blended. It sets quite fast so you’ll have to work it on to your skin quite quickly.

Benefit’s Dandelion Shy Beam is available now for £19.50 for a 10ml bottle from their beauty counters and online.

This sounds fab!! I really like the fact that it isn't too shimmery and glittery! Must check it out! xx

I think it looks really beautiful! Love Benefit Cosmetics, and their High Beam is one of my favourite products, thanks for sharing x

I love the packaging of this but I'm not a huge fan of the shade. I love the high beam highlighter though.
Perfect Shade of Mauve
This looks like a really interesting product. I've never used a matte highlighter before.

I really want to love this product – I got it in the set last year for Christmas. The problem is, though, that I am so pale that it just… completely disappears on my face! You can't see where it is at all! If it was just a shade or two lighter it would be my highlighter holy grail, having horrendously oily skin like I do… Such a shame! x
Oh my god, this is literally the answer to my prayers. I've been after a matte highlighter for a while as I love the matte one in the Seventeen contour kit but I get through it so quickly. The liquid to powder formula also sounds ideal. Can't thank you enough for bringing this to my attention, haha!

I'm yet to try a liquid highlighter, but this looks lush! I'd defo have to test this out as I think it may be a tad to light for my skin tone.

Although I don't suffer with oily skin (although it's starting to become oilier when I'm wearing make-up) I'm not a fan of shimmer or shine or too much of a glow so this sounds perfect for me. I also want to replace my Dandelion blush that I appear to have lost x
