You know when something is so pretty, you can’t do anything else but stare at it all day long? That’s kind of what happened when this parcel of beauty products arrived. I was far too excited and couldn’t concentrate on anything else!
I seem to be distracted by a lot of things lately and I haven’t been feeling prepared for much that has happened so far. Like Pancake Day, Valentine’s Day (my birthday), my sister’s baby shower, and now with Mother’s Day coming up. All of these things seem to be creeping up sooo quickly and I feel very unprepared – or maybe I’m just being unorganised. I better buck up my ideas because I would never forgive myself if I was ever unorganised for Mother’s Day but with the grand help from Selfridges, I have put together THE ULTIMATE Mother’s Day gift guide
Mother's Day Gift Guide For The Beauty Junkie Mum

Mother’s Day Gift Guide

I don’t know if all Mums are the same, but mine is an absolute beauty junkie (I must take after her!). I thought that my stash of beauty products was pretty darn impressive, but it turns out that my Mum has double the amount. However, she is extremely loyal to certain brands and doesn’t like to explore in to the unknown. The only time she allows herself to experiment with a new product is when my sisters and I buy her something to try and Mother’s Day is a great opportunity to introduce something new.
For Mother’s Day (or Christmas and Birthdays), I try to buy Mum one sure-fire present that I know she will definitely like (usually a repurchase of something she’s run out of or something from Molton Brown), and another gift from a brand that she’s completely new to. It’s a risk but she’s liked everything I have recommended to her so far.
This Mother’s Day gift guide contains recommendations for beauty and skincare products from accessible brands to exclusive brands that are lesser known – but luxurious all the same! This is quite a long (but hopefully enjoyable?) read, so get comfortable!
AERIN Beauty Mediterranean Honeysuckle
New fragrance from AERIN Beauty, Mediterranean Honeysuckle is a perfectly balanced fruity and floral scent inspired by the sparkling, shimmery beaches and the azure-blue sea of the Mediterranean. When freshly sprayed, it smells like lemon, grapefruit, melon, and juicy mandarin followed by a clean and subtle floral dry-down of Lily Of The Valley, Gardenia and Jasmine Sambac. Beautiful outer packaging and an even prettier bottle.
estee lauder mascara, giorgio armani lip maestro
You can never have too many mascaras… and that’s because you’re supposed to get a new one every 6 months. If lashes are your mum’s ‘thing’ then you can’t go wrong with gifting her a high end mascara! Estee Lauder’s Sumptuous Knockout Mascara has a slim brush with small bristles (so not as intimidating as those fancy, squiggly, large, and bristly brushes!). The slim brush is designed to give control and ease to achieve full, lifted and lengthened lashes.
Liquid lipsticks seem to be all the rage at the moment. Get Mum up to date on the latest beauty trend with Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro – it’s creamy, non-dragging, intense colour pay-off, lightweight and comfortable to wear – and lasts for up 8 hours. Only the best for Mum! These seem to be selling incredibly well so if you’re after a particular colour, best not to leave the gift shopping too late. Luckily, the Selfridges website tells you if the shade is low in stock and in some cases, will state how many there is left. The shade pictured is 509 Ruby Nude (deep, cool toned pink) and as it stands, there are only 4 Ruby Nudes left in stock. Lip Maestro have a matte finish but doesn’t dry or cling.

My Mum has actually taken this on holiday with her, so I guess she loves it and it’s a hit! Estee Lauder Revitalising Supreme body cream has an anti-ageing formula that firms, tones and improve the skin’s appearance. It’s something different from the usual creams I get her from Molton Brown or L’Occitane, and I have no doubt that she will love it. It will be great for her skin after being out in the sun playing golf all day long. I don’t think I would have even considered Estee Lauder until Selfridges recommended it to me. I will keep this in mind for when I’m shopping for presents for my favourite ladies.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue Cream
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue Cream
I’m pretty sure that everyone who is reading this blog, and most women my age will be familiar with this brand already. I’m not sure if Mums will have the same appreciate for the beauty that is Charlotte Tilury but how can you not fall in love with the brand once you see how BEAUTIFUL the packaging is. You’ve got rose gold, pink, clear perspex… it will be the best looking thing on Mum’s dresser!
Charlotte Tilbury herself has claimed that Magic Eye Cream does so many great things such as plump, hydrate, firm, tighten, refresh, revitalise, lift, and of course, most importantly, reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Sounds like it really is magic in a tub.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Night Cream

I know that this is a lot of money for one single tub of cream but if this was a particular product that Mum has picked out, then maybe it would be a good idea to club together with your siblings? This is called a Magic Night Cream but it is actually a balm-elixr. I’ve sampled it (because how can you not? It’s the most expensive product that I’ve ever put on my face!) and I was excited to wake up and see if there was any difference to my face.
I honestly think that my skin is still too ‘young’ to reap the benefits of this magical night balm, it is much better suited for ladies over the age of 40 in order see the results. It helps slow down ageing and to give skin an immediately noticeably youthful appearance. I can’t wait to hear what my Mum thinks about this, I will be asking her for a review!
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Night Cream
Tilbury has playfully likened the Magic Night Cream to the effect that the potion had in the film Death Becomes Her. The balm is rich and luxurious. You use an extremely thin layer of it at night so that the ‘8 Eternal Youth’ properties help regenerate your skin whilst you sleep.
Diptique Eau Rose
Rollerballs aren’t the prettiest of things but Diptyque has managed to make it look absolutely irresistible! The pink sleeve and the illustrated rose box alone makes my heart skip a beat! And then you open it and see that the rollerball bottle is housed in the cutest little pouch! SO CUTE!
The perfume itself is divine, and as I’ve been LOVING rose scented perfumes recently, this one has two thumbs up from me! Diptyque Eau Rose is infused with several different rose essence but the fragrance isn’t as overpowering as that sounds. It smells like being in a rose garden on a hot Summer’s day!
Candle + rose scent = PERFECTION. Diptyque are hashtag candle goals. The small jars retail at £20 and they do burn slowly to release the fragrance in to the room. I am also extremely tempted to keep this but I have a few(!) candles at the moment including a 3 Diptyque ones that I only bring out when the Queen comes to visit.
I didn’t even know that Diptyque did toiletries and body care, but they do – and it’s stunning. I’m going to be really naughty and keep this set for myself. I have discovered that they do a range of gift sets starting from a reasonable £35. Such a great price for a Diptyque gift set that contains 4 travel sized items, I’m going to start buying these for my friends birthdays! It contains a shower gel, a body scrub, body lotion and hand balm.
Can’t get enough of hand cream, especially when it’s labelled as Super Restorative. It promises to diminish the appearance of age-spots whilst replenishing the skin and protect it from harsh environments. Since I have given my Mum a million tubes of hand cream already, I think I’ll give this to my Auntie. I’m seeing all of my family on Mother’s Day so I’ve got two Aunties, and a Grandma to give presents to this year.
SUQQU Musculate Massage & Mask Cream
Lastly. How’s this for something different? I don’t think that many of us are familiar with SUQQU but I’ve got a feeling we’ll be hearing a lot more about this holistic Japanese beauty brand. Selfridges are one of the three UK stockist for SUQQU, a brand that works with innovative ingredients.
Interestingly, this cream is designed to work on strengthening the facial muscles by enabling you to apply sufficient pressure to promote blood circulation. Something I didn’t think too much about, really! I guess it’s like a little work out for your face? I’m actually going to use this cream/mask soon and write a proper review of it on my blog.
