February’s Birchbox* is upon us, and I, for one, am really glad that it’s not another Valentines Day themed box. There isn’t a hint of pink in sight. YAY! The February 2016 edition of Birchbox has a diamond grid design with marble print and gold foil lettering. As last month’s beauty box had such an uplifting message, they have decided to keep up with the positive vibes with reminding us to SHINE BRIGHT LIKE A DIAMOND. I love it! I hope February is a bright and sparkly month for all of us!
Helping us to add sparkle, the beauty samples in February 2016 Birchbox are:

Spectrum Collection Tapered Powder Brush
Spectrum Collection Tapered Powder Brush
This is one sexy looking make-up brush! Uh, it’s so pretty! A part of me really doesn’t want to use it but a brush as nice as this is meant to be swirled in to powders, right? I haven’t used it yet but it the soft bristled, hand-finished tapered brush promises to make light work of powder application. You can use this with all kinds of powders but I reckon I’ll save it for a setting powder.
Ayres Body Butter
This is a plant-based formula and features essential oils from jasmine, lavendar, and ylang-ylang, shea butter and Vitamin E. I’ve never heard of this brand before but the packaging and branding is right up my street! Since it’s such a cute and diddy little pot, I’m going to save this for travelling – it’s the perfect size!
theBalm Cosmetics Frat Boy
theBalm Cosmetics Frat Boy Blush/Shadow, mini sample
These are really cute samples, I love the packaging design, I’d compare it to Benefit Cosmetics – with the quality and pigment to match – but I’ve never been able to make use of a blusher powder this small.   Beauty box subscribers will know that theBalm is a regular – I just wish it was a cream formula, so I could dab it on to my face. I might actually buy the full size version (I’m assuming there is a full size version) as it is a very pretty pink/peach shade though, just the kind I usually go for – it reminds me of MAC’s Peach Melba.
LOC One and Done Shadow Stick
LOC One and Done Shadow Stick
Birchbox have branched out in to their own brand of make-up. LOC looks really cool from what I can see, it definitely has the cool vibes of MAC/Lord & Berry. The Birchbox in-house product development team has created ‘convenient’ make-up that doesn’t require the need for brushes, blenders and primers. The LOC shadow stick I received this month is in a stunning, shimmery gold, and claims the creamy formula can stay on for a whopping 11 hours – creaseless AND waterproof. Uber impressive!
Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster
Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster
YES to all things serum! I actually can’t wait for Winter to be over so that I can start using lighter products on my skin – but for now, I am grabbing all the serums and oils I can so that my skin doesn’t dry, flake, and shrivel up. I CAN’T WAIT to use this collagen-boosting serum. It uses a potent, high-powered Vitamin C complex to smooth fine lines and plump up the skin.
L.Erickson Grab & Go Ponytail Holder (Bonus Item)
I normally buy hair bobbles from Primark, so I’ll consider this a special item which I’ll (try) not lose. I’m wearing it now and I already love it. I might consider buying a whole set with my birthday money – you get 15 for £11.50 which might sound like a lot of money for hair bobbles – but after years of crappy Primark ones that loses it’s elasticity, and eventually stretches and snaps, I feel like I owe it to my hair! Maybe these will last a long time without snapping?
