Remember the times when we were younger and receiving ‘smellies’ was considered boring? Now I’m like GIMME!! GIMME ALL OF IT! Although, from what I can remember, bath and body products weren’t as exciting as they are today. Well, as exciting as bath and body care gets, anyway.
Nowadays, LUSH leads the way with fun, unique, innovative products but it’s all getting a bit samey-samey now. Don’t get me wrong, I still LOVE going in to LUSH stores and checking what’s new, but I haven’t bought much from there in the past year and now I’ve noticed that there are some brands out there who are starting to catch up! And I’m here to introduce to you a few of them today!

There’s a bit of a theme with this blogpost, which happened by accident, but as you can see in the title of the blogpost… it’s an afternoon tea theme! It’s not quite the traditional British tea but let’s see what we’ve got on the menu. Tea? Check! Cucumber sandwiches? Check! Cakes? Check!
Before I get too hungry, I must remind myself that these yummy looking soaps and body scrubs are for the bath and shower, and they’re absolutely not edible! I am getting the munchies, so let me grab a packet of crisps and I’ll tell you about these pretty little things while I scoff my face.

cucumber sandwiches body scrub
Cucumber Sandwiches Exfoliating Body Scrub*, £5.99
Independent brand, Cognito Skincare, has launched their SPAfternoon Tea collection of body product in which the scents includes Lemon Drizzle, Victoria Sponge Cake, Eton Mess, Chocolate Orange Truffle – all of which you can slap on to your body without the guilt of calories! As much as I loved the sound of all of those sweet-scented products, I wanted to try something different. The one scent from Cognito’s SPAfternoon Tea collection that intrigued me the most was Cucumber Sandwiches. I know that cucumber scented beauty products are widely available but when you call it ‘cucumber sandwiches’, it got me wondering whether this scrub has the fragrance of savoury element of a sandwich (ie. bread and butter). Either way, I wanted to know what it smelt like and how it works as a bath/body product.
I can confirm that Cucumber Sandwiches Exfoliating Body Scrub smells fresh, cool, green with a hint of sweetness. It’s not at all savoury so nothing to worry about there – although smelling like bread or butter isn’t the worst thing in the world! The texture of the scrub is very ‘scrubby’ and grainy, just how I like it! It mainly contains fine sea salt and sugar, which melt when rubbed so it doesn’t irritate and scratch upon the skin. Handmade in batches and containing no harsh chemicals, this semi-solid body scrub is set together by shea butter, coconut oil, apricot kernel oil, rice bran oil, and sunflower oil. It’s moisturising and softens your skin beautifully. Great for prepping your skin for self-tans.

the yorkshire soap company
The Yorkshire Soap Company
OK, CONFESSION TIME! You’re supposed to use these soaps within six months of purchase, but I’ve had these soaps for over a year now. My mum bought them for Christmas and I’ve had every intention to use them but I moved in to a grotty flat sharing with 7 other people who didn’t always respect each others belongings, so I’ve kept them back at my home in the north. I’ve just remembered about them and I’m going to use them anyway! I’ll stop using them if they irritate me but it can’t be THAT bad for your skin…….. right?!!? Well, it probably is, but my mum bought these for me and they are too pretty don’t to throw them out.  I mean, ANYWAY – these soaps are from The Yorkshire Soap Company, a beautiful brand that make the YUMMIEST looking soaps.

bubble t cosmetics bath tea bags
Bubble T Cosmetics*
Afternoon Tea isn’t complete without, well, TEA! Bubble T Cosmetics, available from Superdrug, is a cute and playful brand. Bubble T plays on what initially inspired them which is (have a guess)… Tawainese bubble tea to create fun and unique products. From their Bubbles And Tea range which smells of juicy summer fruit tea (strawberry, raspberries, blackberries and white tea), I’ve been trying the body spray, bath fizzies, and bath infusion tea bags.

bubble t cosmetics bath tea bags
Bubble T Cosmetics T-Bags (£5.99) comes in a box containing 10 tea bags for your bath and each one is filled with bath salts which you simply drop in to warm running water. The idea is to infuse the water with the delicious mouth-watering scent. However, I’m not entirely sure if there are any real benefits to it as it’s such a small dose of salt and it’s not exactly an every day essential but it is SUCH a fun idea and it makes such a great gift for someone. It smells really really good too.

Bubble T Bath Fizzies
These bath fizzies are like strawberry bon bons! They’re quite small so you can pop a couple of them in to the bath. I use one bath fizz and one t-bag together.

Maybe you’re someone who prefers to take showers, or maybe you don’t have a bath tub in your house, you won’t be able to make use of the t-bag and bath fizzies. But if you’d still like to try this range from Bubble T and smell like summer fruits, why not try their shower wash, shower jellies, or body spray instead?
I am teaming up with Bubble T on Twitter in February to give away a lovely good bag filled with their bath goodies worth £50. Follow me on Twitter and keep your eyes peeled on the 4th February! x

  1. So many beautiful products! Absolutely love the idea of bath salt tea bags haha, bubble tea is one of my favourite drinks too so love that play on words. Had to giggle at your justifying still using those soaps, no judging here!

  2. Oh my god, I love this post very much and I love how cute and yummy the products are! I don't have these kind of brands in my country so reading this blog makes me glad to discover these kind of products. Lush is wonderful but it can get a little but messy sometimes. I totally adore that tea bag though. Great post xo
