MAC describes the Desert Rose powder blush as a soft reddish-burgundy. Yes, it’s got a reddish tone but I wouldn’t have thought to call it a burgundy shade….Would you?! I don’t know about you but I would consider it a dusty, dirty rose pink. It looks really pretty in the pan and every prettier on skin.

When it comes to MAC blushes (or any MAC product, in fact) my budget doesn’t stretch that far for me to be experimental with perhaps a more vibrant blush or that deep purple lipstick I’ve been wanting to try for ages, so therefore, I like to choose colours that I can get the most out of, the ones that are suitable to wear on a daily basis.

When I buy something from their range, I want something wearable, a shade that I can get the absolute most out of. And Desert Rose (£16.99 from Fragrance Direct) is exactly what that is. Whether you’re new to make-up or you simply want a everyday blush, Desert Rose is the one. It will suit all skin tones, even those with pale skin.

The powder blush is a matte finish goes on really subtle and sheer but like all of MAC’s blushers, the pigmented colour is buildable which is just as well because I like to be heavy-handed on blush so that the colour lasts longer throughout the day!

Sweep lightly because MAC products are pigmented, a few sweep and you’ll get a natural flush of colour. The swatch below shows 3 layers of the blush which when it has been blended, leaves you with beautiful flush of dark pink on your cheeks.

You can buy a selection of MAC make-up on Fragrance Direct where they’re £1-£2 cheaper than high street stockists.
