I don’t think I’ve ever done a ‘what’s in my make-up bag’ blogpost before but I had a good look at the state of my dressing table over the weekend because it was starting to get messy and it was beginning to make me feel a bit uncomfortable! I definitely needed to hide some of it in a bag! Just shove it in a bag and call it ‘tidying up’!
I currently have extremely limited storage, I’ve got one huge drawer that’s filled with make-up and skincare, which is now overspilling on to my dresser (which I vowed to keep tidy as possible… I failed). But you know what it’s like. It’s the morning, you’ve snoozed for ten twenty minutes, you’re in a rush and and everything just gets sprawled out all over the place!

WHAT’S IN MY MAKE-UP BAG?
But I got a new make-up from
Mi Pac* which spurred me on to tidy things up a bit! I just wanted to use my new metallic gold make-up bag straight away – and hopefully this will keep things tidy. For at least a week, anyway. Whatever was on my dresser is now stored in my shiny new make-up bag, and I’ve got a bunch of junk in there so I’m just going to pick a few faves to show you – otherwise we’d be here for hours!
I’m pretty fussy about liquid foundations and rarely find something that I like but when I do, I hold on to it! Too Faced Born This Way is my new favourite, it goes on to my skin like a dream. It blends in really well without streaks or cakey-ness. It sits on the surface like second skin. The coverage it medium to full and it has a semi-dewy finish, enough to give your face a radiant glow but not so much that it makes you look oily. It’s pretty much my perfect foundation right now. See more of my Too Faced collection here.
I’ve been using the pink one on evenings out, it’s called Pink Punch and it’s a fuchsia pink. I’ve hardly used the purple one yet because it’s more of a winter shade so I’m going to wait until the season changes. These mini Gloss Sticks are such a good price, they’re only £3.50 – and they are really pigmented. Not to be biased or anything (I work for Soap & Glory), but they are a great lip product and I highly recommend them. Has anyone tried them yet? Would love to know what you think!
There’s a bit of a phenomenon in the beauty world surrounding Glamglow, and as per usual, I’m late to the party. I’ve only started using Glamglow face masks in the past few months and I can see why everyone raves about them. Thirsty Mud is a leave-on mask so great for dry or dehydrated skin. It smells really nice too, like coconut! After trying this sample, I will be purchasing a full size jar.
This is the first Antipodes product I have ever tried and so far, I’m diggin’ it! My skin has been feeing a bit dishevelled and haggard lately but Antipodes Superfruit Antioxidant Serum has been a saving grace! Every time I apply it, it makes my skin feel lifted and taut again. The anti-ageing serum contains a superfruit complex Vinanza Oxifend Plus, boysenberry, blackcurrant, kiwifruit and Vinanza Grape, a revolutionary antioxidants. If that’s not enough, the formula also includes coffee berry, acai and ALA (Alpha Lipoic Acid) to boost and protect the skin.

Having been to a few events lately, I’ve been applying heavier make-up on (thought I’d make an effort!) and this cleansing oil from Astalift helps me remove the heaviest of make-up effectively. I’ve disappointed myself recently as I’ve been using facial wipes and micellar water to remove my make-up and that’s just not enough! I’ve missed having a cleansing oil in my life, they’re great for double cleansing which I’ll be incorporating back in to my routine again once a week.
I get a staff discount off Boots so, of course, my wages go straight back to Soap & Glory! My sister introduced me to the Supercat eyeliner so I decided to give it a go! It’s got one of those felt tip pen nibs so it’s really easy to draw right into your upper lash line.
Not that I’ve had any trouble sleeping but a couple of drop of this in your bubble bath helps you to conk out completely. Lavender is so effective in helping me fall asleep. Sometimes a little too effective. (must.not.sleep.in!!!!)
Hand creams are one of those boring beauty products but I don’t know what I’d do without them. I’ve got to have one on my desk and I’m using it about 5 or 6 times a day. Palmers Coconut Hand Cream is a nice balmy cream with a matte finish. It absorbs quickly and it smells really good. It has coconut nut and almond oil, and the scent is quite strong but the exotic scent of coconut reminds me of being on holiday. It’s got that Hawaiian Tropic fragrance!

This is a mattifying anti-blemish BB gel cream. It has a light to medium coverage and it lays on the skin as a powdering finish. Cover FX claims it is an anti blemish treatment and for some reason, maybe it’s pyschological, it feels different to other base products I’ve used. I don’t know how to explain it… it’s less…. cloggy. If that makes sense?! It feel like a powder once it’s on the skin and lasts a good 5-6 hours on the face. Cover FX BB Gel is available in 10 different shades, it doesn’t contain parabens and is also fragrance, gluten, mineral-oil and talc-free!
Rose&Co are a LOVELY company. Their Rose Petal salve can be used on any areas of dry skin, it’s like Vaseline but MUCH better. I don’t find that Vaseline does anything other than providing a very short term protection, it doesn’t seem to moisturise or help the problem. Rose&Co Rose Petal Salve softens dry and rough skin.
Hope you’ve enjoyed reading this! I’m off to do some more tidying up now! (ugh)
What’s in your make-up bag?
Loved this post! Is it weird that I'm so curious about what's in peoples makeup bags?
