Eye make up from models own including smokey eye palette and gel eyeliner

Affordable Beauty Products: Models Own Make-Up

Models Own are not particularly well-known for their make-up, but only because their awesome nail polishes overshadows them. Amongst all of their bright and colourful nail polishes, Models Own have a small range of make-up products available which include lipsticks, lipglosses, blushers, eyeshadows, eyeliner and mascara – all of which are really affordable with most of them under £5! Not bad, right?!

Models Own Smokey Eyeshadow Palette*
£5.99
This smokey eyeshadow palette from Models Own is really neat and compact, it’s small enough to put in to your pocket! It contains 6 shades of greys and black, with 5 of the eyeshadows gleaming with a bit of a metallic shimmer whilst one is a matte black.
For the super affordable price of £5.99 (which works out at 99p per eyeshadow), you can’t ask for much and as you can see from the swatches, the pigments are not strong but this might be a good palette to start you off with if you’re a beginner at creating a smokey eye. I’ve had a lot of practise using dark shadows and I like the pigments to be really intense.
However, I know all too well that working with black and grey eyeshadows can be pretty daunting if you’re not experienced (pandas are cute but we don’t want to look like one) and this kit will help you practise smokey eyes, because the shades are so subtle and not as scary! So, if you’ve always wanted to give dark eyeshadows a go, check out Models Own smokey eye palette as a starter kit.
They also do a nude eye shadow palette too, and each of them come with a handy mirror and dual ended brush and sponge applicator. I would recommend using a primer base (such as INIKA Pure Primer which is suitable for vegans and it’s cruelty free) before applying the eyeshadow on.
An affordable Gel Eyeliner in brown by Models Own
Gel eyeliner swatch in brown
£4.99
I can’t get enough of eyeliners whether it’s gel, kohl, liquid… I’ll take whatever comes my way! It doesn’t matter what shade of eyeshadow I’ve got on, eyeliners always complete the look by adding a gel or liquid eyeliner to the upper lash line and a soft kohl pencil for the lower water line. I feel naked without it!
After trying the smokey eye palette, I wasn’t expecting the gel eyeliner to be as pigments but it’s actually pretty decent, as you can see! And it has good staying power throughout the day too! I tend to go for black eyeliners but a brown makes a really nice change. It comes with a brush which there’s no chance of losing because it’s bright pink and the gel eyeliner itself is quite a hard texture which is unusual for a ‘gel’. The texture isn’t as creamy as MAC’s Fluideline or Maybelline’s Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner but if you swirl the brush in the pot a few times, it will pick up a good amount of product which transfers on to your skin as strong as my swatch shows.
Models Own are available from their website, Boots stores and ASOS.

  1. I noticed more of the make up range today in Superdrug. Was actually really tempted to buy the eye shaddow pallet until I realised it was only last month i went mad in Sephora on holiday and should save my pennies.

The range does look great though.

  2. The nude palette from Models Own is AMAZING. They've also brought out a whole new range of lipsticks which are absolutely gorgeous! Highly pigmented and creamy on the lips 🙂
