Yves Rocher was founded in the late 50’s and uses plants to formulate their products. They have their own botanical garden where they grow 1100 species of plants to use in their products which is sold at affordable prices. Whilst the basis of the brand is heavily focused on botanical beauty and the bulk of the products are indeed made from natural ingredients, they do use low dosage of preservatives recognised by the European scientific authorities, and I am reassured that most Yves Rocher do not contain parabens (but some do). I want to be transparent about that as I am aware that a lot of you are interested in knowing this sort of thing, and it can make a difference in whether you buy in to a brand or not. One thing’s for certain, though, their products are not tested on animals.
is quite well known for their skincare range but I didn’t realise they did perfume until recently. La Parfum Comme Une Evidence (and you have to say that in the French accent for full effect!) is one of the perfumes that Yves Rocher offers – and it’s currently on sale at half price, I believe! The fact that it’s pink and feminine appeals to me, I could tell straight away that I’ll love it. The scent of Comme Une Evidence is what I would describe a very classic perfume. It is listed on the website as intense and concentrated but when sprayed lightly, it’s powdery and delicate. I haven’t been too heavy handed when spraying this perfume because it’s such a small bottle, I want to make it last as long as possible.
I’ve always wanted a perfume with a bulb spray atomizer, there’s just something quite romantic about them. When I picture a perfume sat on the dressing table, the image of a elegant, vintage bottle with a bulb comes to my mind. There is always the option to decant perfume in to a vintage bottle, but that’s not always easy to do and I wouldn’t want to do that anyway because the bottle design of every perfume is part of the whole experience of that specific fragrance. It is really rare to find a modern bottle perfume with this type of bulb spray, so when the team at Yves Rocher asked me to pick a perfume for review, I didn’t take a second look – I knew exactly which one I wanted.
The heart of the perfume is patchouli with notes of jasmine, lily, bergamot, violet leaves and rose – so it is very floral. The dry down scent is very much like a bouquet of red roses and the hint of jasmine makes it smell like a fragrant tea. The only thing I would change is the shape of the glass bottle itself, I would liked to have seen a more elegant design to go with the pretty bulb spray but I suppose the square bottle does give it a modern twist.
