Puff Off Instant Eye Gel*
£22.50 from Benefit Cosmetics
I have known about Benefit’s Puff Off since late November because it has already been on some blogs, QVC and social media. Benefit Cosmetics Puff Off isn’t launching until the 31st January but I have managed to get my hands on one so I can test it out and tell you what it’s like.
Puff Off from Benefit Cosmetics is an instant eye gel that conceals puffiness and reduces dark circles. This is a cosmetic product (as opposed to a preventative treatment like an eye cream) so you will see instant results as soon as you apply it – but that also means the dark circles and fine lines are back as soon as this product is removed from your skin. Puff Off is a quick fix in hiding undereye situations on a day to day basis.
Puff Off! By Benefit – Review

It is designed with a metal tip that looks like an teeny tiny iron, which is a bit of a talking point. The small iron tip feels cool and refreshing on skin, you’ve got to try it to believe it – it will wake up the area around your eyes. The edges are slightly curved and rounded off, so there’s no chance of it cutting you or anything like that. Gliding this on to your skin for a few seconds will help the gel fill in fine lines and smooth the skin.
When I first got Puff Off, I told Niki to try it and managed to trick him into thinking that the mini iron goes hot and steams your skin upon contact. This is, of course, NOT true but it was funny pranking him… boys are so gullible when it comes to beauty products!! So, to clarify, the iron tip does not heat up. I asked him to try it because he always complains about the bags under his eyes and as they are a lot heavier than mine, I thought he’d be the perfect candidate to test this product out.
After application, his feedback was that he felt that Puff Off makes his face look flat (which, in boy terms, this meant that the skin had smoothed and the puffiness had reduced hence why he felt the surface around his eyes looked “flat”). All is good! It actually worked a little too well and he ended up saying how weird his face looked, and that he decided that the fine lines and creases gave his face a bit of character. Hmm, rather than you than me, boyo!
I like the iron tip. It is quirky detail, but I wouldn’t necessarily consider it a “gimmick” as it does serves a purpose in how it feels on your skin, and also matches the concept and the design of the product from start to finish. It’s all how you look at the bigger picture. The product is designed to “iron out” the wrinkles, so to speak, so in a way, it’s kind of cool that the tip is designed to look like an iron – who would’ve thought of that (and go through with it) other than Benefit! That’s their USP, it is what sets them apart and it is what makes them special. True, it could have been a very plain, very bog standard metal applicator but I like the fact that Benefit Cosmetics went for something unique, and go through the effort to ensure every detail is cohesive with the whole concept of the product. And lets face it, when has Benefit ever been ‘bog standard’! Only the best for the BeneBabes! Also, if you’re going to pay over £20 for 10ml tube, you want the reassurance that some effort has gone in to the overall design as well as the quality of the product itself.

The gel contains a peptide blend and light diffusing particles. You will only need to squeeze and apply a small amount of the gel. After smoothing it over your skin for a few seconds with the little metal iron tip, you will need to gently pat it in with your fingers until it absorbs. It has a lovely and natural matte, satin finish and it also dries clear so don’t be alarmed by the fact that it comes out out of the tube as a coloured gel. It will suit all skin tones and is designed to be used over make-up so you can touch up throughout the day – it won’t interfere with your foundation. Alternatively, Puff Off can be used on it’s own after cleansing, toning and moisturising.

It might be hard for some to hand over £22.50 for such a small tube. It’s a nice product, well designed and gives instant results but personally, products like this is not the top of my priorities. Niki has heavier eye bags than I do, which is why I asked him to try it and the verdice was that it worked really well to hide them. I, on the other hand, am lucky that due to good genes (and the help of some VERY good eye cream treatments!), I am not worrying about fine lines and heavy bags yet and I’m not currently at the point where I have to use a lot of products like this (eg. concealer, YSL touche eclat) every day, but I’m entering my 30’s next month, and it’s only a matter of time that things like this will start to bug me. Oh, it will catch up with me, I’m sure! And when it does, I’m glad to know that beauty products are there to lend me a helping hand!
Benefit is my all time favourite beauty brand, and it’s always exciting to see what the next innovative product they they have in store for us. Puff Off is launched nationwide on 31st January and will retail for £22.50.

Is the iron-tip a bit gimmicky? I love the sound of the product, and the packaging is great just a bit concerned about the practicality of it! Lyd x

ah, the iron is so cute! and although it sounds lovely, i'm the same and products like this just aren't my top priority:-) even though, it could be something my lil' eyes need, haha! xx
Oh my gosh it actually looks like an iron! How cute!
Haha at you pranking your other half that it heats up :L
As nice as the packaging is, I don't think I'm quite ready to spend £20 + on an eye cream yet…
Oh wow I would always assume just under make up so it's good to know I can put on top of my foundation, this is definitely something I will be buying on 31st as my eyes are always so tired from lack of sleep, I love the design too xxx

I love the iron. It's such a gimmick but it's drawn me right in! Like you said though, at that price I'm not going to prioritise it 🙂

This product is so intriguing! I've been trying to look at more products for around the eye such as eye creams because I've recently noticed that I could actually benefit from something like this! x

This sounds really intriguing but like any hyped product, it takes me a while to get into it. It took me about a year to finally give in and try Benefit's Porefessional and I'm super stoked that I did because it's friggin awesome and I suspect the same will happen with this – I'll dig in my heels, give in and get it and then love it.
By the way, I've been following your blog for about 2 years now and I ALWAYS assumed you were in your early 20s…I honestly thought you were younger than me and I'm 26…you look awesome girl
