Yesterday morning started off bright and early (and it was indeed bright, and even warm, which made it easier to get out of bed) and I made my way to OUTFIT in Teesside Park, ahead of their Fashion Takeover Event. I was invited to pop in to the store to check out the collections for the new season.
If you’re a fashion enthusiast living in the North East, in particular the Teesside area, get yourselves to OUTFIT’s Flagship store on Saturday 6th September from 9am-7pm where they are holding an open event to celebrate the 1 year relaunch of the new store. You will get to see the brand new Autumn/Winter range, plus you can get your nails done and hair styled for free (from 12pm-5pm), which is a perfect if you’re planning on going on a night out this weekend! There will also be a live DJ to kickstart your weekend and a sweet shop stand too! You might also be greeted by a member of the OUTFIT team as they will be distributing £1500 in free gift cards with random amounts up to £100! And did I mention the added bonus of free parking?…

Back to the fashion and what you can expect at OUTFIT! I had a fun morning looking around the store, learning more about them and checking out what the hottest trends are! I’ve only ever been in to that store about 5 or 6 times but it never clicked until now that all the brands in OUTFIT are owned by Arcadia! I’d say that that’s pretty awesome, if you ask me! You can browse all the major high street fashion brands under one roof, including Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins, Wallis, Warehouse, Apricot, Oasis, Wallis, Burtons and of course, Topman and Topshop…and if it involves Topshop, I’m there with bells on!
I was immediately drawn to the muted Autumn vibes at Topshop, and not only because it was at the very front of the store. Their A/W looks clean and chic with simple shapes in a white, grey and black palette with the odd oxblood, khaki green and lilac thrown in there for good measure. If you want to freshen up your plaids, checked and grid-print, Topshop has got to be your first stop! I’m also loving the printed tailored trousers they’ve got in at the moment but I’m going to admire them from afar for now as I don’t have the confidence to wear them! I don’t like drawing attention to my short legs!

Bright colours aren’t showing signs of going anywhere for Autumn, and the 90’s trend is set to be even stronger this season. I appreciate the revival, I remember it the first time round (and it wasn’t pretty!!) so I see this as a second chance to wipe my memory clean of fugly Naf Naf jackets, double denim, The Sweater Shop and all of the sportswear I wasted my pocket money on. At one point, I even tried to dress like ALL of the Spice Girls in one outfit. (Gee, 90s! Thanks for making me look cool….)
If you’re anything like me, and you want to give the nineties another chance, Miss Selfridge has some things in that Cher Horowitz would be proud to be seen in (What a total betty!) with fluffy pastel coloured jumpers and girly tartan print, you could have a wardrobe just like Cher from Clueless! Couldn’t you just picture her in that fluffy pastel yellow jumper? I bought the same one but in pale pink!
Whilst at Oasis, the tones are a lot true to Autumn. There were a lot of navy, yellow and browns in the collection which all go very well together! I always love seeing people wear mustard yellow (or any shade of yellow, really!) it’s so cheerful! There are some cute blouses in Oasis at the moment! There’s a gorgeous bow print one and one with little strawberries all over it! So cute!

No shopping trip is complete without a beauty fix so I was very happy to see the Topshop Make-Up stand! Approaching the stand and getting the standard, impulsive “I WANT IT ALL” feeling, I began swatching lipsticks on the back of my hand like no tomorrow. After playing around for a little bit, I fell in love the Sheer Lips collection and have the shade Play With Fire on my wishlist, but I’ve got a feeling that I’ll want to buy and collect them all!

Walking all the way to the back of store leads you to shoe heaven! Ever since I blogged about my pair of Dorothy Perkins heels, I have been obsessed with their block heeled sandals! I’ve really gone off a skinny heel at the moment and I much prefer a block heels, it’s just nice to feel a bit sturdier, isn’t it! I’ve not been able to find the pair I want in my size but I hope they will continue to do shoes with a block heel. Dorothy Perkins have really upped their game this year with a huge selection of fashionable and stylish heels, pastel court shoes and chunky boots but Wallis also have some lovely winter boots in at the moment too (my fave being the brown pair I photographed above).

If you’re local to the Teesside area, then pop in to OUTFIT at Teesside Park on Saturday (6th Sept) for the open event and check all the new A/W 2014 range out for yourself (especially Topshop and the Dorothy Perkin shoes!) and get your free manicure and hair done in preparation for your girls night out!
