homeware, home decor, pastel home decoration

As I’ve never committed to anything as big as buying a house, I’m not too sure what kind of style I like when it comes to interiors but I bet it doesn’t surprise you that if I had my own way, there would be some sort of pastel colours in there! Just a hint of it, nothing too sugary sweet!

I actually have a very open mind about it and like a lot of different interior design styles. I like minimal, contemporary, pastel, shabby chic, quirky, white space, scandinavian style, sharp colours, bold designs – I like so many different styles, I don’t know how I’ll ever decide on one! I suppose you won’t have an idea until you actually step foot in your dream home, and I’m sure once you’re in that position, you’ll know exactly what to do with the space.

I’m always looking for home decor inspiration and the safest bet for me is to go for a clean white space with a few colours bits in either a bright or soft colour as an accent – it doesn’t necessarily have to be a pastel shade. That way, if you decide to spend money on an couple of expensive things like fridge or a beautiful chair, it will stand out and make more of a statement. At the moment in time, I’m talking purely from a hypothetical point of view, as in a “IF I was to buy a house, this is what I would do” sort of way. I live in a rented property at the moment, so I’m not in the position to decorate but that doesn’t stop me checking out a million photos of well-decorated houses on Pinterest! In fact, it’s one of my favourite things to do when I’m bored!
After having a look at the Habitat website over the past week or so (and there’s currently a huge sale on at the moment!), I thought of getting some new bits to brighten up my room and the living room area. I want to go for one or two things that would just lift the place up a little bit! Something small, maybe a lamp, a new rug or a couple of cushions will do just fine for the time being! Being a huge fan of cats, I really love the cat cushion in particular!

  1. I LOVE that rug. So awesome. All the items you've picked are all so lovely too <3 I'm pretty sure one of my biggest reasons for looking forward to my own place is just to decorate it like rooms in your post – heh!

  2. I dream of my future home interiors all the time, I love pinning beautiful decor and furniture onto my Pinterest boards. It was exciting when we moved to my mum's and got to decorate our room, but now we're looking for our own apartment or little house to rent and it's even more exciting in terms of decor! Like you say, being in rented property means you can't paint or decorate, but there are so many ways to make your house feel like a home. I love the pictures you've shared above, so so pretty! One of my favourite blogs to stalk in terms of their decor is A Beautiful Mess – they have so many original ideas and beautiful items. Love the cat cushion, I hope you've treated yourself! Absolutely adore the rug, it would fit in perfectly with the cushions and style of decor we've already chosen in our room and are hoping to extend into our new place when we find it 🙂 xxx

  3. The competition prize rug is my favourite, it's such perfect colours. I love grey and yellow together at the moment! I'm forever lusting over homeware at the moment, despite not having a place of my own until Christmas!

  5. This post has made me all excited about moving out! Which will hopefully happen this year. My favorite style is probably a mix of pastels and shabby chic. Oh and there's got to be florals somewhere! Gosh, I can't wait to move out. 🙂
