If you haven’t heard about this yet, then prepare to be EXCITED for a new product launching from Benefit Cosmetics which has got everyone in the beauty industry talking! Benefit Cosmetics is releasing a gel eyeliner and an eye make up remover as part of the They’re Real range at the end of this month and I’ve been trying them out so I can let you know what they are really like!

Benefit They’re Real Push Up Liner | The First Ever Gel Liner Pen!
You may be familiar with Benefit Cosmetics best selling mascara, They’re Real, and if you’re a fan of that then you’ll definitely want to add the brand new They’re Real Push Up Eyeliner and make-up remover to your collection collection!
I have small eyes so I ALWAYS use eyeliners to define them and make them appear bigger. I’ve tried all sort of eyeliners from pencils, kohl, liquid, pens and gels at every price range! My criteria when buying eyeliners is that they have to be really black, fairly waterproof, and long lasting – at least 6 hours. I always test them on my hand before I buy so if they come out watery and grey, then the tester is going back on the shelf!
Benefit’s They’re Real Push Up Gel Eyeliner ticks a lot of boxes for me:
• The black gel is waterproof and long lasting
• The pen never dries up
• The gel is very pigmented
• Angled tip for better control
So far, so good!

The gel eye formula pushes up to the tip by twisting the other end of the wand. It has an innovative AccuFlex™tip has a sharp angle so that you can apply the liner with better control, gliding it as close to your lash line as possible and even getting in those awkward corners.
The soft angled tip flexes side ways as well so you don’t need to put a lot of pressure on when you’re applying it – which is actually what I did when I first used it and the line went a bit skewiff! If you have good skills with applying eyeliner, then this will be a breeze! I can apply this very quickly, in a matter of seconds.
However, if you’re not experience, don’t expect this to be an instant answer to all your eyeliner prayers – it’s isn’t as “criminally easy” as the packaging says and it still takes a few practises to get used to, but the good news is that The Push Up Eyliner Gel Pen is one of the easiest liners I’ve handled, in terms of control.
I find gel formulas the easiest type of eyeliner to apply as they tend to glide right over your skin with ease, as opposed to really runny ink types which can get messy. The angled tip makes it easier for the gel to hug close to your lash line, giving your eyes definition and making them appear larger. You also don’t need to twist a lot of the gel out because it will end up clumping up in to little balls on your skin or at the end up AccuFlex™ tip. As with all quality things, a little goes a long way!

The gel itself is smooth but thick with a matte finish, the colour is a dark black and very pigmented. This what I love the most about the gel liner pen! It glides on easily without tugging and dries on your skin quite quickly, within about 5 or 6 seconds – which I like because there’s less chance of it smudging or going over the crease on my eyelids like a runny liquid eyeliner might.
I have had a lot of practise with applying eyeliners and have perfected it over the years so I can apply the liner quickly without making a mistake. It doesn’t budge at all throughout the day but I don’t have oily skin around the eye area. If your eyelids are oily, a handy tip is to pat them down with a nude/translucent powder. However, I have been wearing it when it has been mega hot the past few days and it still didn’t fade even through the heat and sweat!
The only one negative thing about this eyeliner that I have picked up on is that it doesn’t like cold conditions! My bedroom is cold because I don’t like to sleep with the heating on and when I pick up the eyeliner in the morning, the gel has hardened which makes it very difficult for it to twist out. It can cause the gel to clump up in to little balls when you attempt to apply it. The eyeliner does need to be warmed up so that when the gel softens, it glides on to skin without clumping.

I have spent so much money looking for an eyeliner that fits in to my criteria and most of them end up being really disappointing. The one that I loved the most was MAC Fluid line gel liner but the pots always dry up before I ever got the chance to finish it. After three pots, I decided that it was a waste of money (an product) so I started trying lots of different other ones including a favourite of mine, Illamaqua Precision ink liner in Abyss.
Benefit are a brand that is lot more accessible and slightly cheaper than Illamasqua so I now have a new favourite eyeliner pen! I can see the They’re Real Push-Up Liner being something that I will always re-purchase, along with this next product….

…Naturally, you’re going to need something to remove the budge proof eyeliner and this is where They’re Real Remover comes in to play! To remove this, you’ll need a good quality eye makeup remover and this one has been formulated to remove They’re Real mascara and They’re Real eyeliner with ease.
I don’t have an eye make up remover at the moment, so I whipped open They’re Real remover out of it’s box, applied it over the liner and it disappeared immediately after 2 or 3 swipes. Retailed at £14.50, this gentle cream lifts every trace of eye make up off without tugging or pressure (keep those wrinkles at bay!), and is suitable for sensitive skin and contact lens wearers. It also comes in handy if you’ve made a mistake with your eyeliner and want to remove some of it with a cotton bud.
Both products are available from 28th June from Benefit Cosmetics stockists nationwide. Alternatively, you can purchase all three They’re Real products in a set from Look Fantastic for £52.50 from 29th June. You don’t save any extra pennies but Look Fantastic are offering a free deluxe mini Lollitint when you buy two Benefit products or more! (while stocks last)

I've read so many reviews on this that I made the decision of testing it in store before actually buying. I'm a newbie in terms of eye liner but I really want to learn and be friend with it.
Now, what I'm really curious about is the make up remover! Looks like a really lovely product.

I can't wait until this comes out! Benefit products are awesome and I'm a sucker for eyeliner.. so I'm hoping this will be just as good as their other products! xx
I'm contemplating buying this liner because every review I've read says it's much easier to work with. Maybe I'll finally manage to create a cat eye.
I'm kind of amazed that it's so difficult to remove with normal cleansers. I wonder how on earth they've managed that! It looks like such a must have product though with that matte finish and I love the packaging.
