Best Matte Bronzing Powder – Benefit Hoola Review

Benefit’s Hoola has been the best-selling bronzer in the UK for the past five years. It’s a high quality bronzer, natural, non-cakey application is great value for money and as soon as you try it, you can see why it’s the UK’s best-selling bronzer.
If there’s one thing that I’d love to be able to do, it is to master the art of contouring, but Hoola makes is somewhat easy!
Bronzers are something I’m lacking in my make up collection at the moment but when a personalised Hoola arrived and I couldn’t wait to use it! Even though I lack skills in contouring, I think I can just about manage to sweep this lightly over my face evenly for a sunkissed look!

Hoola Bronzing Powder from Benefit Cosmetics* – £23.50
Matching Hoola Lipgloss* – £14.50
Hoola is a soft, warm bronze powder with a matte finish, which is great for anyone with oily skin. I’ve only ever used shimmery bronzers so it’s nice to try one that’s matte. I much prefer the flawless, non-sparkly look these days – even during the summer – but if do I fancy highlighting any part of my face, I’ll use Benefit High Beam or Smashbox highlighting wand for a healthy glow.

As it’s buildable with a natural finish, it is suitable even for fair/pale skin. Don’t be put off by the brown shade and don’t be too heavy handed on it at first because the powder is buildable.
Swirl the brush in the powder and tap the excess off before applying it to your face. I’ve only ever used one or two sweeps of this over BB cream just to warm my yellow skin tone up a bit. Each time I’ve used this, I’ve used a primer so this powder has lasted many hours and I only needed one light re-touch through out the day.

The UK’s Best-Selling Bronzer

I can see Hoola becoming a staple in my make up bag! But if there’s one tiny thing that I’d change about this is that I wish the packaging was round so that I can swirl it my blush brush around in it.

I've been in the market for a new bronzer that goes nicely over pale skin and I definitely want to give this one a go. Thanks for the tip!

I love Benefit Cosmetics. I haven't tried this bronzing powder. I contour using a different product I am going to try this definitely. Great post x

This is one of my favourite products ever. I've repurchased so many times I love it, although the Body Shop honey bronzer is very similar and really nice at a cheaper price point!

I own a miniature of both products (bronzer and gloss) and I really like them! To be truth, I never though I would like hoola that much. Now I think that it's the perfect bronzer for me and when the little one ends, I'll be sure to get a bigger one.

    Take care*

Hoola powder is about the only Benefit product I don't own not because I don't love it but for the same reason outlined above I just can't do the square packaging. I like round powders that I can swish a brush in. Lucy

I've heard this is great for contouring actually, I've only got the one boxed product from benefit (sugar bomb) but I love it! xx

I am dying to get my hands on this. I've read so many reviews lately! I love matte bronzers because I like using a highlighter & using shimmery bronzers can be too over powering…

Wow, so jealous that you get your name on yours ;____; It's a really cute touch! I actually find that Hoola is a little too much in terms of pigmentation, so I use it just under my cheekbones and another bronzer for everything else. I find that the stock brush is useful too, which is a first!

It has your name on it!? Waaah! I'd love to learn how to contour, I'm always scared to use bronzer because I'm so pale.

I've never tried Hoola but have always heard great things about it. I really love Benefit blushers and bronzers, my current favourite is their Dandelion one as it's so subtle and soft. I LOVE how your brush has your name on it, how cool is that 🙂 xx

I love reading your blog, it's SO well designed. I find most bronzers are too dark for my milk white skin but I will check this one out after reading your recommendation. It's nice to have a bit of colour after all.

Ah i'm so jealous that your bronzer has your name on it, that's so fab! I love Hoola, I've used it since I first started wearing make up when I was a teenager, I always find it so wearable. Although I just got a Bobbi Brown bronzer shimmer brick for my birthday and I'm really loving using that for a wee change! X

I'm yet to master the art of contouring too, so for this reason I am a little afraid of bronzer and hardly use it, always hear good things about this one though. Loving the little personalised brush and box 🙂 xx

I love the fact it's personalised – that's so sweet! I'd probably want it to be in a round pot too, though it does sound like a lovely product. I've never used bronzers so I'd have no idea where to start in choosing one or using one! xxx

I really like the shade, I think it's one that suits many skintones.
The packiging looks really cute but I'd prefer a rounded one too 🙂
Hmmm..I don't really have a favorite bronzer since I'm not good at contouring at all xD
