Benefit Hoola Bronzing Powder
Hoola Bronzing Powder from Benefit Cosmetics* – £23.50
Matching Hoola Lipgloss* – £14.50
If there’s one thing that I’d love to be able to do, it is to master the art of contouring! Bronzers are something that is lacking in my make up collection at the moment but when a personalised Hoola arrived earlier last month, I couldn’t wait to use it! Even though I lack skills in contouring, I think I can just about manage sweeping this all over my face evenly for a sunkissed look!
Impressively, Hoola has been the best-selling bronzer in the UK for the past five years. For a high quality bronzer that goes on to your skin silky smooth and not at all cakey, this is great value for money. I love these boxed powders from Benefit but have always found it hard to use the rectangular brush that comes with them so I like to use a rounded blush brush for even application. Hoola is a soft, warm bronze powder with a matte finish, which is great for anyone with oily skin. I’ve only ever used shimmery bronzers so it’s nice to try one that’s matte. I much prefer the flawless, non-sparkly look these days – even during the summer – but if do I fancy highlighting any part of my face, I’ll use Benefit High Beam or Smashbox highlighting wand for a healthy glow.
This only comes in one shade but it goes on quite light to begin with so it is suitable even for fair/pale skin. Don’t be put off by the brown shade and don’t be too heavy handed on it at first because the powder is buildable. Swirl the brush in the powder and tap the excess off before applying it to your face. I’ve only ever used one or two sweeps of this over BB cream just to warm my yellow skin tone up a bit. Each time I’ve used this, I’ve used a primer so this powder has lasted many hours and I only needed one light re-touch through out the day.
I can see Hoola becoming a staple in my make up bag! But if there’s one tiny thing that I’d change about this is that I wish the packaging was round so that I can swirl it my blush brush around in it.
As you can see from the first photo, there is also a Hoola lip gloss within the range but I haven’t used it yet. Keep your eyes peeled for that review coming soon!
What do you think of Benefit’s Hoola powder? And are there any other matte bronzing powders that you like to use?

  1. I own a miniature of both products (bronzer and gloss) and I really like them! To be truth, I never though I would like hoola that much. Now I think that it's the perfect bronzer for me and when the little one ends, I'll be sure to get a bigger one.

    Take care*

  2. Hoola powder is about the only Benefit product I don't own not because I don't love it but for the same reason outlined above I just can't do the square packaging. I like round powders that I can swish a brush in. Lucy

  3. I've heard this is great for contouring actually, I've only got the one boxed product from benefit (sugar bomb) but I love it! xx

  4. Wow, so jealous that you get your name on yours ;____; It's a really cute touch! I actually find that Hoola is a little too much in terms of pigmentation, so I use it just under my cheekbones and another bronzer for everything else. I find that the stock brush is useful too, which is a first!

  5. I've never tried Hoola but have always heard great things about it. I really love Benefit blushers and bronzers, my current favourite is their Dandelion one as it's so subtle and soft. I LOVE how your brush has your name on it, how cool is that 🙂 xx

  6. Ah i'm so jealous that your bronzer has your name on it, that's so fab! I love Hoola, I've used it since I first started wearing make up when I was a teenager, I always find it so wearable. Although I just got a Bobbi Brown bronzer shimmer brick for my birthday and I'm really loving using that for a wee change! X

  7. I'm yet to master the art of contouring too, so for this reason I am a little afraid of bronzer and hardly use it, always hear good things about this one though. Loving the little personalised brush and box 🙂 xx

  8. I love the fact it's personalised – that's so sweet! I'd probably want it to be in a round pot too, though it does sound like a lovely product. I've never used bronzers so I'd have no idea where to start in choosing one or using one! xxx

  9. I really like the shade, I think it's one that suits many skintones.
The packiging looks really cute but I'd prefer a rounded one too 🙂
Hmmm..I don't really have a favorite bronzer since I'm not good at contouring at all xD
