I consider myself as very down to earth from the lifestyle I lead to the way I dress. I wear things that I’m not particularly precious about, which is a conscious decision because no matter how careful I’m being, I know I will spill my drink down my top! Or I’ll sit on the floor and end up with marks on my dress! Something like that always happens but I’m not bothered about it because it’s no big deal, all of my clothes are inexpensive. I’m low maintenance and I like the simple things in life but every now and then, I’ll get the chance to wear something that would make me feel both fancy and stressed at the very same time, like the dress I wore as a bridesmaid, for example. I felt quite cautious because I might stain it, or rip it, and that’s where the stressfulness comes in to play! But for the most part, beautiful and expensive items like that are, of course, going to make you feel (*cliche alert*) “a million dollars” and that’s an amazing feeling, that’s the power of fashion. It can make you feel a certain way. It can give you more confidence and a spring in my step!
My designer trench coat here cost the same price as my designer bag (more on that at the weekend), and the striped shirt from Hobbs is white and made of silk. The style of this outfit is still very “me” and I feel very ~grown up~ in it, and I guess I’ll have to learn to be (even more) careful and not spill coffee all over myself! Shirts have become my favourite items of clothing to wear and there are more shirts in my wardrobe than there are of dresses (and I used to be a dressaholic!)
I’ve been getting to know more about Hobbs as a brand and what they have in store for us! Below is one of their inspiration design board for their upcoming No.2 Collection this Summer which is inspired by Royal Ceremonial dresses and architectural elements from palaces. I LOVE hearing about the source of inspiration and how they came up with the designs, and the approach on how a collection is made. It gives the clothes more depth once you know this background information, it makes you fall in love with it. The style of the new collection remains traditionally British with a regal vibe, something that Hobbs does very well. I love, and appreciate the strong use of heritage, especially in a fast-moving modern world like today where everyone wants to get in on the latest fads.
Working with old-age British manufacturers, each of the twenty pieces in the Summer collection is made from exclusively designed fabric with rich, intricate detailing. Each piece has it’s own story to tell.

In celebration of the new collection, Hobbs would like to offer one of you guys the chance to win £500 gift voucher to spend on their website or in store and own something really special. 1. You look stunning! I love your bun, it's so neat, I never get mine that way so I only wear messy buns -.-
haha And funny to know that you'll always get something on your clothes xD And a but surprising to know that you wear inexpensive ones, I think they look very chic and hence more expensive somehow. LOL The trenchcoat is so beautiful, the sketches are fascinating too *___*

  2. Sarah, this outfit is perfection. I would very gladly borrow all of the pieces from you and wear it myself, but especially the striped silk blouse – what a lovely, classic piece. There is something about this look that feel rather Parisian to me; I think it's the utter simplicity but beautiful attention to detail.

  3. Oh goodness, Hobbs is a dream shopping destination really! Entered and everything crossed xx
