MAC Plumful Lipstick | Review and Swatch

MAC Plumful lipstick is a gorgeous plum red in their lustre formula and is one of my favourite shades for Autumn and Winter.

I’ve had my eye on MAC Plumful lipstick for a while. I was hesitant about it at first, only because it’s a darker shade than what I normally wear. Will Plumful suit me? Will I get much use out of it?

Eventually, I added it to my Christmas list and I am now the proud owner of Plumful… and I love it!

MAC Lipstick in Plumful – £15.00 from mac
As I had made such a fuss of it my head that it was going to be my perfect lipstick to Autumn/Winter!
It’s from the lustre formula range and it is described as a plummy pink. The formula is creamy, sheer with a slight glossy sheen to it.

I love that Plumful looks different on everyone. On me, against my yellow-toned asian skin, it comes out with a lovely maroon/plum red, but have seen it look slightly pink on others. It does a great job adding a healthy natural-looking colour back in to my lips.
It like to reach for MAC’s Plumful on days when I’ve chosen to wear darker coloured clothes and chunky knitwear.

I really like MAC’s lustre formulas because they’re so wearable and moisturising. If you prefer a bold lip, this is probably not for you as they’re not as pigmented as the others but it has got good staying power!
I absolutely love the lustre finish lipsticks from MAC; it’s moisturising, extremely wearable for day time, and the colours are buildable, so they’re all-round pretty versatile!
Overall a lovely lipstick and a great one for those who would like to try darker shades.
Have you got MAC Plumful? Which MAC lipstick shall I purchase next?

  1. Haha you needn't have pondered so much – it's a beautiful colour on you! I'm the same with my dark lip colours in that I can only wear them with *certain* outfits, so they don't tend to get a lot of use. And I know exactly what you mean by the MAC shopping experience -_- they have perfected the art of intimidatingly hovering over you while you're trying to browse and in my local store, if so much as try to swatch something on the back of your hand, they're all over you asking if you need help!

  2. This looks gorgeous! I've always pondered Plumful but I'm still not too sure as I'm not a fan of the finish and prefer mattes. My current favourite Mac lipsticks are Mehr and Captive, would definitely recommend having a look at those two!x

  3. I love this colour on you! I want it in my collection now. If you haven't tried Girl About Town, you really need to – it's a bright 'out there' pink and it's gorgeous. x

  4. This is such a lovely colour on you, it really suits you well!
Plumful has been on my wishlist for months but I could never quite decide either – I hate shopping at the MAC counters too but might have to pluck up the courage and test this one out next time I'm shopping!

  5. It looks great on you, and I'm glad I'm not alone in hating the Metrocentre's MAC counter. It looks so wonderful but damn it's not a pleasant experience at all. The counter at Fenwicks in Newcastle isn't as bad, I think.

  6. Ohh looks so nice!!
I really wanted to expand my MAC lipstick collection ( I only own 1 lipstick…) but I always forget about them. During this year I've settled myself about trying out more South Korean products, but on my Birthday, I'll try to get this bad boy :3
Take care dear! Have a nice day!*

  7. This looks beautiful on you. I agree to with MAC counters, the service I receive is always terrible, if they even both to serve you! I usually just get ignored. I think I'll add this colour to my wishlist, because like you, I don't own a lipstick that looks similar.

  8. after reading this review I think this is going to be my first MAC lipstick! Sinde I am really pale I don't like to wear lipstick that makes me look even more pale and I think this is a great colour. It is kinda dark but still wearable! Thank you for the review I am really excited to check that lipstick out at a MAC counter 🙂 madamxann.blogspot.de

  9. Beautiful colour, and it really suits you. I totally agree about shopping at MAC though, I hate their shops and counters. It's always so chaotic and as you say, the service is poor. They have lost out on my custom lots of times because of it! xx

  10. This shade has been on my list for months now too because of some beauty blogger or another – I can't keep up! But everytime I get to a MAC counter I'm just overwhelmed by the colours on display and having to pick all the berry shaded ones up to look at the name at the bottom. So I always leave empty handed…
I have been tempted to order it online but there is something so satisfactory about getting it in the black MAC paper bag!

  11. Ahh, that shade looks lovely on you! I'm yet to delve into Mac lipsticks since they're ridiculously priced in Australia, but I may look into this one 🙂 It looks like it'd be a great shade for the cooler months.

  12. It looks beautiful on you, it really suits your colors! I always wanted Plumful, perhaps it's the only MAC lipstick that catched my eyes in a while. I need to buy it soon, I think it's the perfect shade for someone like me who doesn't like to wear vampy lip shades, but loves a bit of color.

  13. Plumful looks gorgeous on you! I have been eyeing up this shade so may have to finally make the purchase! Maybe next month though – I need to save my pennies! I only own one Mac lipstick, See Sheer, which is also a lustre. It's so beautiful! xo

  14. This shade looks great on you. I completely agree with you about the experience in The Metro Centre though, I find Fenwicks in Newcastle isn't much better though. I can be stood pondering shades for a good few minutes and it'll take ages for an assistant to come over and see if I need help. It's frustrating and most of the time if I want something from MAC, I tend to order it from Debenhams online – after reading multiple reviews and looking at a ridiculous amount of swatches.
