How To Wear The Trend: Winter Pastels

Judging by my blog design, you’ll know how much I love pastel colours, although I don’t think I have a lot of pastel-y coloured clothes in my wardrobe.
Yesterday, I pulled this paisley smock dress out of the wardrobe and felt the urge to wear it. The words baby blue paisley smock dress sounds wrong for Winter but the weather was a mild (makes a nice change!!) so I could just about get away with it!
Unlike the last time we took outfit photos in Newcastle, the country-side breeze was, thankfully, much calmer which makes life so much easier!

Polka dot nail art, spotty nail art, winter coloured nails, winter themed nail art,
This is the first time I’ve worn this smock since the Summer (blog post here) and of course, there was absolutely no chance of me going bare legged this time (as if!). I’m really attached to the SuperCosy Primark tights and I’ve actually got a t-shirt underneath too!
I reached for my pretty pale pink bag from Baleeblu, and decided to try the whole “winter pastels” thing.
For outerwear, it was between my beige trench coat or biker jacket. Not to go too overboard with the sugary shades, (the beige trench made the whole outfit look a bit too washed out) I opted for the black leather biker jacket to toughen up the look.

My favourite part of this outfit are the accessories. You guys know what a huge fan of jewellery/accessories I am, afterall that was how my blog began in 2008!
You may have noticed that I don’t wear a lot of jewellery anymore but this is because I’ve left a lot of it at my Mum’s house. I didn’t bring a lot of things with me when I moved due to lack of storage in my flat (and the fact that I wanted to start afresh! Which meant giving myself the go-ahead to buy some shiny new things).
All my drawers and storage boxes in my room have been taken up by make up, hair and beauty products! I do have a small collection of necklaces in my new room, with this silver hummingbird being the latest addition. The hummingbird necklace I’m wearing is from Jana Reinherdt and it’s so cute and dainty, it is the perfect touch to my outfit.

  1. So many pretty things in one post! I love your nails but that necklace is also so dreamy. I've always wanted a hummingbird pendant, they're my favourite animals (along with seahorses). Beautiful styling!

  2. You're one of the very few people I think can pull of pastels and darker colours at any time, without looking at all forced, and whilst always looking like yourself.

I really like what you've worn here. Especially the smock dress , floppy hat, and leather jacket combination. The setting of your photographs is always perfect.

  3. This is such a wonderful post, darling! I love how you paired your pastel items with darker choices, like the light blue dress contrasted with the black hat!

  5. I love how you styled this pastel dress with the other black pieces. Your tassel loafers are adorable and I really like your hat too. I like seeing how bloggers style their more warm-weather pieces for winter.
