Smock Dress* Chicnova / Jacket ASOS / Bag Mulberry / Boots Office
I have a love-hate relationship with smock dresses. One minute, I love the comfort of it being oversized and the next, I’m fretting about whether the baggy fit suits me or not. Some people have said that they look a lot like maternity wear (stylish one at that!) but something about these style of dresses make them difficult to resist. Every time I buy one, I’ll tell myself “ok, this is the last one I’ll buy” but I can never help myself.
This blue floral one from Chicnova is quite wide-fitting, as smocks tend to be but it’s a tad too short for me and would probably class this as a tunic style. Having said that, I think that smock dresses look better when it’s shorter, but this way this one makes me feel self-conscious. It doesn’t look to bad from the front, and it probably isn’t all that much of an issue but I find myself constantly clutching the back of the dress to make sure my butt is covered. The fabric is thicker than I thought which was nice, made it feel suitable to wear during Autumn.

I also like the pattern of the material which is what drew my eye to this when I was browsing on Chivnova. It would have been really helpful if they photographed it on a model but it’s great that they have the length measurements on the product description, some of our high street brands lack this information which I find annoying. Do you go for your usual dress size, or do you opt for a smaller size when you buy a smock?

Chicnova offers free worldwide shipping, they deliver fairly quickly and you can get 20% off your first order – details can be found on the website.
Just a quick note to let you all know that I forgot to put the giveaway details on my F&F post yesterday. If you’d like to win £50.00 to spend on a new outfit or two, please click here for details on how to enter (it’s really easy!) Good luck! x

  1. Such a lovely print! You always look gorgeous in smock dresses. I don't think I own any, they don't remind me of maternity wear I'm just not sure if I suit them? Argh!

  3. They DEFINITELY suit you. I can see why people would think they look like maternity wear but on the right person definitely not, and they look so good on you. Love the print on this one, it's gorgeous. Loving the whole outfit actually, you look lovely as usual!

  4. I love the print if this. I actually currently wear a lot of smock dresses as maternity wear and prefer spending my money on things that I can still wear after the Beth but j don't think they look at all like maternity wear on you. X

  5. You look lovely! The blue colour suits you so much 🙂 I see what you mean about it being a little on the short side though, I'd definitely be conscious of it too! I wish all online shopping sites had length measurements on them, it's so helpful and saves returning anything that's too short. I do think the smock style really suits you 🙂 I bought a floral smock in the Asos sale, and I'm not entirely sure it suits me! I'm saving it for next Summer though, I'm sure I'll get some wear out of it even if just around the house 🙂 xxx
