Morning Dew Moisturiser £4.95
Skin Shield Daily Moisturiser £5.95
Both from Amie Skincare*

My skin doesn’t take a lot of moisturisers very well, but I do like to have 2 or 3 to choose from. I’ve got my Clinique Moisture Surge for reliability – It’s my favourite one, because I know it works and will make my skin hydrated and smooth, but with a £32 price tag, I don’t want to use it every single day. I try to make the tub last as long as I can, so I have a couple of alternatives, usually for days where my skin isn’t too bad and I can get away with something a little lighter, both on my face and on the ol’ purse strings! There’s also days where my skin is oily or particularly dry, and there are creams to solve that. Then, of course, there’s a night cream, but we’ll get on to that another time!
The two I’ve got here are both from Amie, a brand I have been really loving these past couple of months. I’ve loved the cleanser, which has really cleared up my skin. What a difference it makes to your confidence when your skin is blemish-free! The Morning Dew is a matte-free finish, so it is a great moisturiser for those with oily skin, this one should hydrate your skin whilst reducing the shine. It’s a smooth and light formula, and full of natural goodness! I really love this product, I can’t fault it. I’ve never used or heard of a matte-finish moisturiser before, so this is really unique. It’s a good base for skin as it leaves it in a great condition to apply make up on. I’m not sure how well this would work on dry skin but I certainly recommend it to those with oily complexion.
In terms of results, Skin Shield is hydrating and it contain SPF 15 to protect your skin from UVA and UVB, but I wasn’t all that keen on it for two minor reasons. The first one is that it contains very tiny little flecks of shimmer. I assume this is there to give your skin a lovely glow once you’ve finished applying it, but I personally don’t like shimmery, shiny things on my face. I have highlighters and illuminator cosmetic products but I only apply them on my brow bone. The shimmer is hardly noticeable unless you look really closely, but it’s a different story when you’re out in the natural daylight. It’s not like “woah, you’re face is soooo glittery!”, it’s an extremely subtle glow when the light reflects, but it’s just not my thing. The second one is that the consistency is heavier than moisturisers I’d usually use. It doesn’t absorb well on my skin and leaves it sticky for a quite a while. It’s a bit like sun lotion, one of those creams that goes whiter the more you rub it in, before it eventually absorbs after a bit of persistence. It isn’t a terrible product, not at all! I just wouldn’t choose to buy it for daily use. I would, perhaps, consider purchasing it if I was going on sunny holiday!

  1. The Morning Dew one sounds like something I should try! I really dislike shiny and shimmery things on my face too. I like the idea of a matte moisturiser, it suggests to me that the primer might be able to be skipped if like me it's worn purely to extend non-shiny skin time. I love Clinique's moisturiser too, but I haven't purchased it for quite some time now. I'm trying out cheaper alternatives, and I've been getting on well with the Simple age regeneration range for the last 6-9 months. I'm always open to trying new things though, once I get to the bottom of this one 🙂 xx

  2. 'Woah your face is so glittery' – haha I laughed so much at this. From the sounds of it, I don't think I'll be making a purchase there but the Morning Dew sounds very intriguing. I can totally understand the confidence a blemish-free face gives (not that I have those days very often) so I would be more than willing to give this a go. Thanks for the post lovely!

  3. I would love to try the mattifying moisturiser 😀 I also want the cleanser you've mentioned as it sounds so nice, it seems to be out of stock on the one site I was hoping to pick it up from though. I shall continue my hunt! 😀
