You may have seen this already because the new Hero&Cape collection launched weeks ago! I did a design for them last year which was this peter pan collar t-shirt
with a black ribbon necktie that I have made as a detachable brooch. I thought I would play it safe back then and go for something simple but fashionable. This year, I was asked to do one t-shirt for them and I pitched to them a collection of “Illustrated Heroes/Icons*” tees. I sketched Lady Gaga, John Lennon, Debbie Harry, Zooey Deschanel and a few others that didn’t make it. My David Bowie illustration
was chosen and it is now available to buy on the Hero&Cape
clothing website. At the moment, it’s only available in grey with a shimmery gold print. The cotton is really soft and comfortable, and if you’re in to baggy t-shirts, then do check out Hero&Cape. We’re working on a few different colourways on the classic white tshirt, it’s just a case of deciding which one to release. I think that the Illustrated Heroes
will eventually be launched next year, I just need to improve on some of the drawings and ensure it’s all completely suitable for screen printing. If you have a favourite pop culture icon, let me know in the comments and you might just see it drawn on a t-shirt in the Spring!
The A/W photo shoot took place over 2 days during the middle of Summer, and I’ve been lucky enough to style the new range which you can view in the A/W 12 lookbook
. We wanted to show that T-Shirts can be fashionable! I even wore mine on a night out a few months ago with disco pants, black clutch bag and lots of accessories! The team at Hero&Cape have asked me to work with some very stylish bloggers in bringing you a “How To Style A T-Shirt” feature, I’m just waiting for the others to post theirs and I should have the content put together very soon!
