To quote a friend “Kripsy Kremes are the business.” Since Krispy Kreme* launched a new store in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, I have been well and truly spoilt!

Last week, I was sent a couple of boxes of donuts from the new Kreme De La Kreme range which I was keen to try! Out of everything I’ve been sent this past year, I think I was most excited about this one, probably because it was something that I could share with my friends and family. Krispy Kreme have asked me to review them to you. There are 3 new flavours within the range, and they sneaked in one of my favourites, Butterscotch Sundae!

This is filled with pistachio praline cream, topped with a generous dose of white chocolate, pistachio and fruit flakes. I liked it but I didn’t know it was a pistachio filling until I looked it up on the website, I thought it was white chocolate! It is nice combination, and a very pretty looking doughnut and would recommend it if you like white choc, I know not everyone is a fan of it!
This was the first one I tried when I visited their store on launch day, and I would say this is my second favourite flavour! (The first being original glaze). This is an original glaze ring doughnut with butterscotch icing in the middle, with chocolate and honeycomb topping. When fresh, the doughnut is really soft and yummy. I don’t know why but I find the ring doughnuts easier to eat and could easily have 4 or 5 of these in one go!
I love salted caramel flavoured desserts, I’m a big fan of it so I was excited to try this one first but I didn’t like the dark belgian chocolate on top. The saltiness is really subtle but I think it is overpowered by the dark chocolate, however I suppose it give a balance between bitter taste and sweet. This is one of the less sickly sweet doughnuts so if you prefer that, I’d go for this one. It is filled with salted caramel which is really delicious!
I had heard lots of good things about this one, and when I shared the doughnuts out on the day they arrived, this was the one that people dived for so I didn’t get a chance to try it. I don’t mind nuts but I’m not really that keen on it so I didn’t put one aside for myself before they all went! I asked my friends and family for a quick review and all they said was “mmmmmm” or “it was so good”. A definite thumbs up from them. This doughnut is a chocolate cake, dipped in hazelnut chocolate and finished with chopped caramelised hazelnuts. This will be the first one order this next time I’m at Krispy Kreme!

  1. Soooo jealous of you right now, these look so tasty! The salted caramel looks to die for, i'm actually a big dark chocolate fan so it's right up my alley! Wish they sold these near me 🙁

  2. all those donuts are making my mouth water O_O the krispy kreme's in the states don't have these fancy flavors! (or maybe they do but i just haven't been to a krispy kreme recently…)
