Empties: Beauty Products I've Used Up Recently

Empties: Beauty Products I've Used Up Recently

I use things quite sparingly to make things last as long as possible so these types of empties posts are not so regular on my blog. I can’t tell you how happy I am to get this Empties blogposts up - because I have been saving these empty bottles and packaging for months (and months) and I CAN’T WAIT to finally put them in the bin!

I have blogged about most of these already so please feel free to click through to the full review!

London's Highest Restaurant | Duck & Waffle

I didn’t have an Easter related blogpost ready this year - but I was looking through my folders and I came across the photos I took at Duck & Waffle in London. I thought… ok, this picture has eggs. Eggs… Easter… that might work? I know that is a bit lame link, since this meal had nothing to do with Easter at all. But let’s roll with it….

My All-Time Favourite Brow Kit. EVER.

When I first got in to brow products, it was when I started blogging about beauty. Before that, I did nothing to them other than pluck and keep them tidy.

Looking back on old photos on Facebook, I can’t believe I didn’t use any brow products but then again, brows weren't such a big deal back then… and we seem to be reminded of this with every Buzzfeed ’42 Things You’ll Understand If You Were A Teen in Early 2000’s’ articles. Oh, how brows have moved on since then!

I’m actually quite glad I didn’t waste spend that much time and effort on my brows during my teens and early 20’s, because it’s a time consuming part of my make-up routine and not to mention the absolute frustration when they don’t match! We must remember, of course, that our eyebrows are sisters, not twins. But it would be pretty darn nice if they could be twins, am I right?

Let's Talk About Pai Skincare

Every skincare expert will tell you that overloading your skin with a huge amount of products is not going to be good for you. And as a beauty blogger, I can certainly vouch for that. With an influx of skincare sent to my door over Winter (to help me get rid off that grey, dull complexion - probably!), my overexcited self couldn't help but to try everything.

Photo Diary: London

Can you believe that after all of these years of using a computer, I have only just started saving my files in an orderly system. You know, a tidy system where I can actually find the file I need without turning my computer upside down. I’ve made a start on (one of) my external hard-drive so I will soon have things saved in the correct year and the correct month.

And that when I found the photos I took in London. I have been looking for these photos for ages, I’ve been meaning to share these on my blog for months. They’re nothing amazing, though - just photographs I took from my phone - but I still want to share them on my blog so that I can look back on them one day and remember the good old memories!

Cocktails For The Weekend!

HAPPY FREAKIN' FRIDAY! ...Unless you're not reading this on a Friday, then HAPPY freakin' whatever-day-you're-reading-this-blogpost. Apart from Monday. In which case, ugh, Mondays. I am feeling your struggle! There's no denying it, Mondays suck. We no likey Mondays.

But, picture this. It's the weekend and I love making cocktails. I love trying different flavours but I am the first to admit that I am no good at it. I don’t like sticking to recipes, I make it up as I go along… and that’s probably why it taste vile 99% of the time.

I think it's because I get overexcited about the whole thing. “I’ll just add a bit more gin, and maybe more syrup, and lets mash this strawberry to pulp. No… that doesn’t taste right. Have to balance it out now. I’m going to add some juice. How about some lemonade?” And before you know, the whole damn thing has turned brown with fruity lumps floating in it, foamin' and bubblin' like a potion in a witches' cauldron.

Two Game Changers from REN Skincare

Everytime I get something from REN, my mum and I fight for it! We both love using their products for how great they make our skin looks. One of the greatest things about REN is that there’s a great deal of science and technology behind each of their skincare range, using powerful and effect ingredients to create products we didn’t even knew we needed! And they're not just in there for marketing purposes either.

YSL Touche Eclat Slogan Edition

Now this is a cult beauty favourite amongst a lot of ladies and it probably that needs no introduction - but can you believe that this is the first time I’ve actually used YSL Touche Eclat? Earlier this month, we saw the launch of the YSL Touche Eclat limited slogan edition. The formula remains the same but with an added touch of tongue-in-cheek humour to the pack design, which is something I appreciate from high end brands that are often seen serious and too cool for school. It's like they've let their hair down.

YSL Touche Eclat Slogan Edition

YSL Touche Eclat Slogan Edition

You can get the following slogans:
  • No Need To Sleep.
  • I Am Not A Morning Person.
  • All Lights On Me.

Now, it says on the YSL Beauty website that the slogan edition only comes in shade 01 (their 'universal' shade) but I’ve actually got it in shade 02. As far as I know and from reading a couple of other sources that it does comes in shades 01 and 02.

The first time I ever heard of Touche Eclat was when I was reading a Spice Girl interview in one of my 90’s girly mags and Geri Halliwell was quotes saying that she absolutely swears by Touche Eclat. Got to love celebrity endorsements. And it worked, of course! As a TOTAL Spice Girl fan, I wanted to buy everything they were wearing, using, eating (you get the idea), but of course, my skin was youthful, bright and fresh, I would have had no use a product like Touche Eclat back then. Well done Sarah from the 90’s, that was very sensible of you to hold back! (It was more than likely that it was because I couldn’t afford to buy it!)

YSL Touche Eclat Slogan Edition

You see, as an adult, I never really took to this as I always thought that this was a concealer but whenever I’ve been to check it out at the beauty counter, it just didn’t seem to be like your typical concealer. It didn’t cover up blemishes but I thought maybe that was just me and my awkward skin.

Now in my 30’s, I’m very lucky to say that dark circles is not a huge concern for me (yet). I don’t get dark circles or bags under my eyes and I’ll put that down to good genes rather than a sign of me taking after myself. It’s hardly the latter as I sleep late, don’t drink enough water, don’t get enough vitamin intake.

YSL Touche Eclat Slogan Edition

Only recently have I realised that you can use Touche Eclat to highlight or use on the right areas of your face to get a radiant looking, soft-focus glow. To me, it makes more sense for it to be used that way and I’ve been happy making use of my wand of Touche Eclat as such.

If there’s any part of your face that you feel appears dull and would like to brighten in an instant, whether that’s under your eyes, brow bone or the apples of your cheeks, Touche Eclat at your rescue! It melts on to skin and it doesn't flake or cake. I'm very late to the party but I FINALLY get the hype of this cult beauty classic!

YSL Touche Eclat Slogan Edition is available now and retails at £25.

Recipe For Edible Raw Funfetti Cookie Dough

If you’re looking an easy recipe for a quick sugar fix, why not try these edible raw cookie dough balls! I used the recipe featured in this month's issue of BBC's Good Food Magazine but I added sprinkles myself to make them 'funfetti' and  I thought I'd share how it all turned out.

I'm not the best at baking but I wouldn't even class this as such as it doesn't need to be baked or cooked. These edible raw cookie dough really simple and affordable to make, it takes 5-10 minutes depending on whether you’re using an electric whisk or you’re mixing by hand with a good old spoon. I don’t have any baking utensils so I just used a spoon, it was easy enough to do and as you can see, the cookie dough balls turned out alright!

FREE ROLLIN' from Benefit Cosmetics

One of the most talked about beauty releases of the past 12 months is Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Mascara. I’ve gone through 3 of these so far (granted, two of them were the mini sized version) but I really like them.

I don’t know why but my eyelash curler always go missing - probably because I use it as a proper for my blog photos sometimes - so it's a relief whenever I see Roller Lash at the bottom of my make-up bag.

The Passive Aggressive Adult Colouring Book

The Passive Aggressive Adult Colouring Book

As a bit of an over-analyser and serial panicker, I’m all for staying calm. I love paint-by-numbers and when I was going through a bad phase of anxiety, I bought a paint-by-numbers kit and I really enjoyed it.

But I just don’t get the adult colouring book thing. I think it’s so great that they’re so incredibly popular, it goes to show that we’re not alone in feeling the way we do. We all need a bit of calm, peace and mindfulness in our lives, and if adult colouring books work for you, then that’s really awesome - but I generally find colouring in (especially with pencils) pretty frustrating, I don’t find it therapeutic at all (I wish I did!).

What's In My Bag

blue leather bag

I like to do one of these What's In My Bag blogposts every now and then - not only to show what's inside my favourite bag - but to actually have a good look at what needs to be thrown out!! I have a habit of dumping all kinds of things in my bag and leaving it for the longest time. Usually the space in my bag is taken up by a bunch of snacks and it's empty wrappers.

What's Inside The Good Egg Gift Set From Lush

lush easter bath bombs

The other day, I made a Lush wishlist from their latest collection which just so happens to be their Easter range. I normally just buy bubble bars but I wanted to treat myself to a couple of bath bombs, so what better way to try a mix of product than to buy one of their gift sets.

I spotted one Good Egg gift set, a Humpty Dumpty shaped box, sitting on one of the shelves at Lush and knew I had to have it!

LUSH Easter Collection For 2016

Since the Lush haul from my birthday two weeks ago, I have fallen in love with bath bombs and bubble bars again! I’ve almost used up the products I got for my birthday so I’m off to buy some more Lush stuff this week!

I like to make a wishlist before I go in to the store so that I don’t get sidetracked or confused my senses from one scent to another. With this wishlist, I can go into Lush and know exactly what everything is and what it’s made from, and pick from the selection that I’ve made. It’s the only way to prevent the potential damage to my bank balance!

LUSH Easter Collection For 2016

I am most excited about checking out the Easter collection at Lush (uhh, what? It’s almost Easter?!) which is as colourful as ever, but I am a bit disappointed to see that half of it is the same as last years. Not that last year’s Easter collection wasn’t awesome - it totally was, but I suppose I was expecting an EGGstravanza (ho ho).

Here I have compiled some of the newest things from LUSH and I assume that these are limited edition and will only be in stock over the Easter season.

1. Good Egg Gift Set, £26.95
This is a really cute gift set for Easter! It contains 6 items in the Humpty Dumpty shaped box for £26.95. In the box, you get 3 bath bombs, 1 bath melt, and 2 large bubble bars. If you can’t decide which bath product to buy, I’d go for this! (And I think I just might!).

2. Bunch Of Carrots Bubble Bars, £6.25
For the past few years, these carrots have been orange (of course!) but I’m glad to see they’ve mixed things up a bit. The citrus scented bunch of carrots this year come in funky shades of pink to make your bath water nice and bright.

3. Humpty Dumpty Bath Bomb, £6.95
Another one that's made with orange/lemon oils, Humpty Dumpty bath bomb is one of those that you can use up to three times by splitting it in half, and revealing the mini fried egg bath bomb that’s hidden inside.

4. Bouncy Bunny Shower Jelly, £3.95
Not the cutest looking bunny but if showers are your thing, then check out the Bouncy Bunny Shower Jelly. It is (another) orange scented product to invigorate the skin and help you feel more awake.

5. Somewhere Over The Rainbow, £4.25
They had this in the Easter collection last year but I’ve got a feeling that it might be a slightly different formula or aesthetic design? Something about it looks different. It is, as you’ve guessed, an orange and lemon scent - with a blend of Turkish rose to sweeten things up.

6. Funky Bunny Gift Set, £14.95
This is a new addition and an alternative to the Bouncy Bunny gift set. Funky Bunny contains 3 bars of Fun (soft soap) and a tub of Bouncy Bunny Shower Jelly. This one is probably more for the kids. Personally, I prefer the Bouncy Bunny (£18.95) which has a bath bomb, a bubble bar, a bar of soap and the shower jelly.

7. Ultra Violet Bubble Bar, £4.95
I think Ultra Violet Bubble Bar might be part of the permanent collection? I love this chunky bubble bars which I split in to thirds or quarters. If you’re not a fan of the citrus scent, you’ll be happy to know that Ultra Violet Bubble Bar is floral and slightly woody.

8. Carrot Gift Set, £19.95
This adorable carrot shaped gift set contains 3 bath bombs (including the ever popular, The Experimenter - which I haven’t got round to using yet because it’s too pretty!) and a bunch of carrots.

9. Golden Egg Bath Melt, £3.95
It’s back! the sweet, caramel, toffee scented Golden Egg is a very gold, very shimmery bath melt that guarantees you seeing flecks of glitter everywhere for the rest of the month! It might be a good one to use if you have dry skin though, as the Golden Egg has olive oil and shea butter in it.

10. Rainbow Gift Set, £11.95
In this gift set, you get one Ultra Violet bubble bar and a bar of Somewhere Over The Rainbow Soap. It would only cost you £9.20 if you bought both of these items separately. It does look pretty - and it does make a lovely gift for someone, but I'd prefer to spend that extra couple of pounds towards another bath bomb.
