Autumn Photo Diary: Pet-Sitting, Cosy Nights In, and Volunteering

I had a goal last month to hit a certain number of traffic, as you do, and I worked hard to reach that target.

But once I reached it, I had run out of steam and hit a brick wall. I got distracted and somehow lost focus. It happens. It’s fine!

I’ve juggled several freelance projects with tight deadlines (I LOVE working under that kind of pressure!) and balancing a new opportunity in a local charity shop, plus various other life things that I’ve enjoyed doing.

Something had to give this month and I decided that that would be my blog. As I remind myself that it’s all about quality, not quantity, I don’t want to push out any old shit on here, even when the brands try to add a bit of pressure on.

How To Feel More Awake In The Morning (when you're not a morning person!)

If you’re not a morning person and you can’t drink coffee - what’s a girl to do?!

Oh, how I wish I was one of those people who leap out of bed with sheer happiness that the morning has come round again. But I have never ever been a morning person, unfortch - I promise you that I've tried my darn hardest to be! What can I say? I'm a night owl!

Every morning, I snooze my alarm clock for at least 30 minutes before my eyes are fully open, and another 15 to get my butt out of bed. And I’m grumpy until, at least, 11am. Especially as the dark and cold mornings have well and truly returned. *Groan*.

Tips On How To Feel More Awake

It could all be fix by going to sleep earlier, I know - but it’s not as easy as that. It takes me forever to fall asleep and my brain overthinks EVERYTHING at night. I use products like lavender bath oils and pillow spray in the evening to promote a healthy night sleep, and they do work! But what I’ve discovered recently are products that help you feel more awake in the morning.

And what a difference it makes.

Beauty Products I've Tested This Month

Beauty Products I've Tested This Month

As you know, I am lucky enough to get the chance to try out a lot of beauty products. A lot. And my glowing skin sure owes a lot to beauty blogging! To keep things interesting, I think I'm going to change my ‘monthly favourites’ to ‘products I’ve been testing this month’, so I can include the ones that haven’t met my expectations, as well as ones that I highly recommend.

There’s not going to be a negative vibe about these blogposts, though. But you’ll get what I mean when you read on!

Halloween Themed Treats From Biscuiteers

Halloween biscuits, ice biscuits from biscuiteers

I don’t have any traditions when it comes to Halloween. My sister and I were never allowed to go Trick or Treating and we never grew up celebrating it.

I’ve always been envious of the style in which Americans celebrate Halloween and judging from what’s available in the shops over here, we’re giving our Stateside pals a run for their money! It seems like Halloween is getting bigger each year.

It’s never too late to start my own traditions, though. I may be too old to go Trick or Treating (although my niece will be old enough to go in a few years time and I’ll HAPPILY take her!) but I can get involved by decking the house out with ghoulish candles, spooky bath pamper sesh, sweet treats, and …Halloween themed biscuits

Don’t mind if I do!

A Chat About Wellbeing And Self Care

It pains me to say that there are things in life that are out of my control, and not being in control flares up feelings of anxiousness. But the main trigger of my anxiety, as I have come to realise, is when I become unwell.

I kept becoming ill at one point - not because there was anything wrong with me but due to lack of self-care and a crappy immune system. I didn't challenge it at the time, I tried to brush it to the back of my mind and constantly made excuses for myself.

But I’m too busy. I don’t have time to deal with this. I need to do something else instead. I promise I'll do it tomorrow. Maybe it will go away if I ignore it...

Sound familiar?

The more I neglected the signs my body were giving me, the worse things got, which flared up a sense of panic. The slightest of pain, aches, lumps, and bumps would trigger anxiety attacks and it became a daily occurrence (or rather, a nuisance).

Once I knew what the root of my anxiety was, I was able to change my ways to combat it. Challenging yourself to break the cycle can be scary but I felt like if I could untangle the worries I had, why not but try it? I was careful not to obsess over the change over the years as I didn't want to overwhelm myself.
