British Beauty Brand | Lily Lolo

Ah, fresh make-up! Is there anything better than the sight of clean, fresh, make-up! Although I have to say, it doesn’t look this neat anymore now that I’ve used it!...

Lily Lolo (shop link) is a minerals cosmetics company you may not be familiar with but they are celebrating their 10th birthday this year! Lily Lolo have recently been through a brand refresh and although I really liked their branding before, I love it even more now. It’s surprising what a small change can do! The new branding is a lot stronger and slicker. For anyone who’s interested in what it used to be like, you can see it in my review of their eyeshadow quad palette

Beauty Haul | Soap & Glory

A couple of weeks ago, I got my contract extended which means I’m staying at Soap & Glory HQ until the end of the year. Hurrah! I didn’t expect it (I mean, I already booked my one way ticket back up north) but it works out well that I’m staying because it means I can continue living in my London flat until the contract is up. I was kind of dreading the process of listing my room and finding a replacement tennant! Totally don’t need that kind of stress right now!

soap and glory review

So, anyway - for anyone who is a new reader to this blog - I am working in digital marketing for Soap & Glory on an interim basis, and when I started I was given a goody bag. All newbies got a goodie bag full of SOAPER goodies, they are a very generous company! I intended to blog about my “Soaper Stash” weeks ago but it got pushed further and further down my to-do list.

My Skincare Routine With Janjira

I’ve enjoyed a whole new skincare routine this past couple of months. Even though I’ll admit, I’ve gone from religiously sticking to a skincare routine to missing the odd day or two, here and there. I can see myself making a habit of it, a habit I need to snap out of PRONTO!

Having to share a bathroom with 5 other strangers is difficult and sometimes (in general, living with strangers is difficult), I’ll make-do with Micellar Water and a few cotton pads, and call it a day. Sometimes I get in at about 9pm and I’m honestly too tired to even move. Again, Micellar Water and cotton pads comes to the rescue.

My Skincare Routine With Janjira

It makes me feel guilty though, and there really is no excuse. I know that what I’m doing is not thoroughly cleansing my face enough. I need to stick to a solid skincare routine, twice daily, 7 days a week, so that I know I am pro-active in taking care of my skin. I’m the only one who is control of that and I shouldn’t be slacking, especially with all of the amazing things that I get the opportunity to try. I mean, I am working in the beauty industry right now, I gotta practice what I preach, right?!

Another Day, Another Candle!

Another day, another candle! Four to be precise! Now that the cold nights are drawing in, the candles are coming out. On a miserable, rainy day, all I want is light a couple of candles, curl up under the duvet and watch Netflix. I was gifted a set from Linea - they must’ve known I am obsessed with candles, not sure what gave them that idea…. it’s not like I blog about candles often (lol). I mean, I do my candles, not going to lie!

I am hundreds of miles from home and I don’t have the things that comfort me. But one thing that does make me feel more homely are candles. My room in London is a grotty, cold and bland, so something as small as a candle (or 4) can make the world of difference. Well, I don’t know about you but makes a big different to me anyway. In the Summer, it’s a bouquet of flowers and in Autumn, it’s candles. It’s funny how small things like this can make you feel better in an instant.

What's In My Make-Up Bag?

beauty blogger make up bag

I don't think I've ever done a 'what's in my make-up bag' blogpost before but I had a good look at the state of my dressing table over the weekend because it was starting to get messy and it was beginning to make me feel a bit uncomfortable! I definitely needed to hide some of it in a bag! Just shove it in a bag and call it 'tidying up'!

I currently have extremely limited storage, I’ve got one huge drawer that’s filled with make-up and skincare, which is now overspilling on to my dresser (which I vowed to keep tidy as possible... I failed). But you know what it’s like. It's the morning, you've snoozed for ten twenty minutes, you're in a rush and and everything just gets sprawled out all over the place!

What I've Been Up To: Celebrating Birchbox's 5th Birthday

DUCK AND WAFFLE IN LONDON

The Duck And Waffle is a place I’ve been wanting to go to for ages but with a two month waiting list, I haven’t quite got round to booking that table. When Birchbox invited me to their 5th party celebration dinner, I couldn’t pass on this amazing opportunity. Since I’ve been raving about Birchbox almost every month this year, I was pretty excited to meet some of the team that makes the beauty magic happen.

I waddled my way to the Duck And Waffle after work, I stayed a bit later and went straight from the office, and I was tired but it was TOTALLY worth it. Having this event to look forward to made my week so much better!

A Sweet Fragrance | Christian Lacroix Bijou

Over the Summer, I wrote a few blogpost for AVON. I re-acquainting myself with a brand that I had, admittedly, forgotten about. It is a household name, everyone has heard of AVON whether you have an interest in beauty or not but it has been a very long time since I bought anything from there.

I miss the days of flicking through a catalogue with pages upon pages filled with products, circling the things that you’d like to add to your wish list. I do crave for things to go back to the simpler days - there’s nothing wrong with a good old catalogue! Nowadays, you can buy everything online and that includes AVON products - but that’s just not the same, is it?

My Beauty Stash: Too Faced Cosmetics

Can we just take a second to appreciate what a bundle of cuteness Too Faced Cosmetics are! I know it’s not to everybody’s taste but I personally really love the cutesy-cutesy, sweet and girly packaging, it draws me in more than a slick design. I mean, what can I say? I’m just not a slick kind of girl.

Spa Of The World Range from The Body Shop

As soon as I saw the launch of The Body Shop Spa Of The World range, I knew I had to check it out. The spa-like packaging design has a great premium feel to it and with names like African Ximenia Scrub, Polynesian Monoi Radiance Oil and Moroccan Rhassoul Body Clay, the products themselves sound very exotic and luxurious! It has 100% enticed me and now I’m hooked!
The Body Shop Spa Of The World

Like most of the things I’ve been trying from The Body Shop lately, this collection has surprised me. It’s so very unlike The Body Shop but I appreciate the daring change of direction, I think the brand needed it and the risk has paid off.

Birchbox X Selfridges | Limited Edition

2015 has been a huge year for Birchbox (shop link), they've been absolutely killing it! There’s still something exciting about Birchbox and it’s only about to get better because this month is the celebration of their 5th birthday!

A limited edition birchbox with selfridges

A lot of beauty bloggers will remember the very first time these beauty boxes launched and the hype that they bought (Anyone else remember when Birchbox started out as Jolie Box?). Throughout the years, there has been many that have followed in their footsteps but have fallen in the trap of complacement and the excitement died down. But Birchbox have kept things interesting, especially this year with major collaborations with the likes of Tatler Magazine, Habitat, French Sole and now Selfridges&Co. You can't get better than that but at this rate, I'm pretty sure that Birchbox will most definitely continue to surprise (and impress) us!

A Slumber Party In Manchester | Blogger Event

First up, if there’s a blogger event in the north, I am on it like a car bonnet (do people still say that?!). I miss the north like you wouldn’t believe so I was very happy to get an excuse to venture up that way. I find that the events hosted in the north are less daunting, less filled-with-anxiety, and just generally less intense! I rocked up to the hotel and was like HIYA GUYS! I'M MEGA EXCITED TO SEE YOU! Whereas in London, I'd be like... Hi, I'm an awkward turtle, nice to meet you!

An Evening With Holland & Barrett

Myself, along with 5 other bloggers, joined Holland & Barrett for a small, intimate, bloggers event. We were treated to an overnight stay at the luxurious, beautiful, one-of-the-best-in-Manchester, The Midland - a 4 star hotel about 20 minutes walk from the train station. (10 minutes if you are tall, have long legs and take wide strides).

Yankee Candles Out Of Africa Collection

I don't blog about candles very often...

...Ha, jokes. That is a total lie, I blog about candles all the time. I fall in to that whole 'bloggers love candles' cliche so frickin' hard.

What can I say? I am total candle hoarder, that much is true, but when they fragrances are as beautiful as Yankee Candles, how can you not be completely sucked in to the whole candle obsession!

yankee candle out of africa

Yankee Candle's Out Of Africa Collection For Autumn

Out Of Africa is the new Autumn range from Yankee Candle and it is probably the only way I’ll get to experience a bit of Africa, sadly. I would love to see that part of the world and if I had the money, I would absolutely LOVE to travel there. But the sad truth is that I’ve not been out of the Country for years now, I haven’t been on holiday for a very long time (it’s alright, I’ll live…!)

Yankee’s new fragrances are inspired by parts of Africa and I think it’s really lovely how they’ve captured it in a scent. The colours of the Out Of Africa candles are lovely too, it’s just the kind of colours you need in your home over the Autumn months.

They’re very Autumnal (I know, I know, ‘Autumnal' is an extremely overused word in the fashion/beauty world. I’m allowing myself to use it once this year. You won’t hear it again on my blog again until next year. Maybe. We’ll see.)

City break style tips, what to wear in Paris

Since my previous blogpost was inspired by Paris, I thought that this would be a nice follow up. This is a feature that I was asked to be involved with by River Island as part of their Style Insider, the blog section of their website. If you've never read River Island's Style Insider, it worth checking out because unlike most brands, their blog is updated frequently.

Myself and four other bloggers were given a Summer scenario and we had to choose a few River Island items to provide their readers style tips on how to dress for Summer occasions.

BLOGGER HOLIDAY TIPS

I was happy to be given City break as it would mean reminiscing about being in the city, but amongst mine, there was also beach holiday, wedding style, BBQ and of course, festivals! I know it seems a bit redundant to blog about anything to do with Summer but it's not officially over until 23rd September, so I am still wishing that we're treated to at least ONE MORE DAY of sunshine between now and then! (Pleeeeease!!).
