Summer Style Inspiration: California Dreamin'

Top* (which is actually a chiffon playsuit) Ted Baker at ASOS / Sandals* Ted Baker at ASOS/  Leather Jacket ASOS / Shorts* Glamorous / Bag* Baleeblu / Glasses Rayban / Hat Miss Selfridge / Necklace Love Hearts and Crosses

This top is from the beachwear range at Ted Baker (via ASOS) and it's actually a playsuit tunic that you'd wear on the beach as a bikini cover-up. As I am not on the beach (sadly, currently no where near it!), I had to think of another way to style it. When I saw a picture of it, my initial thoughts were "nope, no way, I'm not going to wear this as it is. Not in the England countryside. I'm going to try and make it work in a different way...somehow!" I put my fashion blogger cap on and transformed the chiffon playsuit in to a top!

With the theme of 'holiday' that was given to me by ASOS, for this outfit I imagined myself on holiday in California. I've never been, but I would LOVE to go one day. For now, I will stalk all instagram photos in the #california hashtag and dream from afar! I'm pretty sure that if I did go to California, I wouldn't be packing a thick leather jacket in my suitcase, but one thing I always wondered was how Californians can wear leather jackets in such hot weather. Two people that come to mind is Audrina and Justin Bobby from The Hills (totally irelevant and not really that famous, but I still love that show!) When I was browsing through LA street style photos or most recently, Coachella style pics, you'll always see people wearing a leather jacket (in contrast to those at the same festival wearing bikini tops and shorts). Anyway, that is where I went to for the outfit inspiration from when I styled this look for ASOS.

Since I'm not in a sunny country (C'mon, UK! Give us the Spring we deserve! Pretty please!) and I'm rather attached to my leather jacket, it's coming with me where ever I go! It isn't hot enough to go out in denim shorts with no tights (and I know I need to get a bottle of the ol' St. Tropez!) but this outfit goes to show that when you're done with your beachwear from past holidays, you can get more wear out of it by wearing them to adapt to the British Summer - where a leather jacket is most certainly (probably) a staple piece! All year round!

With accessories, I've kept it fairly simple here. No statement jewellery here. I don't tend to wear jewellery when I'm holiday, at least nothing chunky or heavy. A floppy hat never goes amiss, a pastel bag will always be my number one summer accessory and an adorable necklace to complete the outfit. The necklace I am wearing here is from Love Hearts And Crosses, a brand that I have felt close to for a long time! I love the Origami jewellery collection because I used to do a lot of Origami when I was younger (geeky fact about me)! The pendant on my necklace is a rabbit, and it arrived through the post during Easter. It's really cute and if you like quirky jewellery, I urge you to have a look at Love Hearts And Crosses! Nowwww! :-)

What To Wear On A Holiday: Ted Baker x ASOS

ASOS Insider Challenge
Ted Baker x ASOS*

Playsuit* Ted Baker at ASOS / Sandals* Ted Baker at ASOS / Clutch Bag NOTHS / Bracelet ASOS

Pop over to ASOS to see more of how myself and the other UK fashion bloggers styled their ASOS x Ted Baker outfits, plus a chance to win a Summer adventure with your bestie!

I think it's pretty much a dream come true as a fashion blogger to be able to collaborate with a huge brand like ASOS, so when I was one of the ones picked for another ASOS Insider Challenge, it was a boost of confidence (god knows I need a much needed boost, I feel like I've literally been wilting lately!)

This styling project consists of three bloggers (one being yours truly!) and we were each given a theme. Mine was 'holiday' and after picking two Ted Baker outfits and one pair of footwear, I swifty got on with styling each outfit in two ways. One day time look, and another for the evening.

This is the first out of the four in this mini series of blogposts this week, and we have here a lovely white playsuit with a jewelled embellishment on the neckline. Although this isn't my usual day time outfit for when I'm in this country, but this isn't too far from what I would wear when I am on holiday (except, I'm probably not as 'polished' as this!) Naturally, my style changes slightly when I'm abroad., and with the sun shining around the clock, it's always ideal to wear lighter colours and you can't go lighter than white which already makes playsuit the the perfect outfit for a holiday.

With the theme in mind for when I came to style the outfits. If it was somewhere like Costa Del Sol, I wouldn't be so dressed up, so I pictured myself to be somewhere nice and dreamy like South of France or maybe even on a fancy cruise - in a place than would appreciate a pretty playsuit! I thought that a clutch bag would suit be better suited with this chic playsuit than a shoulder bag or a chunky hand-bag. With the neckline being so fancy, it didn't feel quite right to carry anything on my shoulder. I also wouldn't want the bag strap to get caught in the sparkly jewels and ruin it. This outfit would be so amazing if I was actually on holiday but you'll have to forgive me for the less than glamorous backdrop! Can't wait to show you the next outfit!

A Casual Sunday

Fashion Blogger outfit idea
How to style an anchor shirt, nautical style
Monica Vinader Engraved Bracelet
orange bag, how to style bright bags
Show to style cobalt blue, cobalt blue shoes, carvela smoking slippers

Shirt Primark / Shorts BANK / Shoes* Carvela / Bag* Fossil / Hat Miss Selfridge / Customised Bracelet* Monica Vinader

Another outfit post with the two colourful accessories! Starting with the shirt, it was a last minute purchase from Primark. I spotted it right before I headed to the checkout tills, and I knew I had to have it! It has an anchor print and a silver necklace details with anchors on. I'm not too sure about the necklace, but it's detachable so I'll take it off next time I wear it!

I don't know if you can see it in the photo (because we're not great at photography shiny silver things) but my bracelet has my name engraved into it. It was a gift from Monica Vinader and it is so nice. It arrived with the nicest packaging, it felt like my birthday when I was unwrapping it. Jewellery like this is so special, the personalisation is a lovely little detail.

After a stressful end of the week, I've taken this weekend to chill out and do NOTHING but watch episode after episode of Nurse Jackie! I've learnt a lot about Google, and domains this past few days. I've been so put off by putting my domain back on so I'll just use the blogspot default for now. It's all very boring and geeky to talk about on a fashion blog but anyway...I'm just praying that nothing else goes wrong next week!!! I was just saying the other day that I was finally getting super organised and that I had a fortnight's worth of content lined up, and then something just had to go wrong, didn't it!

I've got lots of ASOS outfit posts from tomorrow, there are four in total -  So keep your eyes peeled for those next week. Do you guys prefer to see more fashion/outfit posts? Or do you like the current balance between fashion and beauty posts?

New Product Alert! : HealGel Body

HealGel Body, bodycare for dry skin, products for dry skin, healgel
HealGel Body, bodycare for dry skin, products for dry skin, healgel
HealGel Body, bodycare for dry skin, products for dry skin, healgel
HealGel Body, bodycare for dry skin, products for dry skin

HealGel Body - £39.50

Those who suffer skin problems will know how difficult it is to find something that actually works, and because Healgel was created by a group of cosmetic surgeons, their combined knowledge and expertise have enabled them to produce effective products from ingredients that will help your skin to remain healthy and replenished.

Anyone who has ever used any of the Healgel before will vouch for how good they are, and fans will be pleased to know that they have launched a new product. HealGel Body is the latest addition and it is a gentle, soothing aqueous gel that absorbs in your skin to leave it feeling regenerated and smooth. If you've used the Healgel Eye before, I would describe the consistency as similar to that. It's a gel that feels like water on your skin (a bit like a hand sanitiser) which eliminates the sticky, greasy-ness that some people dislike from applying creams and lotion.

At £39.50, it isn't cheap, and I don't see the tube lasting for longer than 4 or 5 months - I've been using it about 3 times a day since it arrived through the post, but I LOVE this brand and I would repurchase this, just like I would repurchase the eye gel, which it is AMAZING! If you have particularly troubled skin (such as psoriasis, eczema) I would recommend trying this. It's a gentle , soothing formula with a delicately light scent to it, the gel will help to give relief to irritated areas.

I have featured other HealGel products on my blog, click here to read them all.

Ways To Wear Polka Dot | Accessorize with Colourful Accessories

accessorizing with colourful accessories, how to wear blue shoes, what to wear with blue shoes
How to wear bright accessories

Shirt ASOS / Jeans Topshop / Bag* Fossil / Shoes* Carvela / Sunglasses RayBan

As a fashion blogger, I am always up for a good style challenge! At first when I was told that the items would be picked at random, the negative side of me thought "what if it's not my style" - "what if I do a horrible job of it" - what if, what if, what if.... I need to stop being so "cup half empty", I know! The parcel arrived and I was so happy to see the cheerfully colourful items! I got a bright orange bag - also seen on the previous outfit post I did - and cobalt blue shoes. Both will come in handy as I've been wearing a lot of dark colours/monochrome lately. The weather is confusing me and I'm not ready to fully commit to Spring fashion yet!

The style of the bag is right up my street, big enough to fit lots of my random everyday things! The colour of the shoes are really eye-catching, and I have to admit that I don't normally like to draw attention to them, but it makes such a big different to a boring outfit, and I like the fact that the colours of both accessories are not too matchy-matchy! Would you wear the orange and blue together? Or do you think I should keep them separate?

On a side note, I think I mentioned last month that I was having issues with my domain but after a couple of sleepless nights, it was fixed and all was good! Yesterday, I had another problem and out of panic, I changed everything back to my blogspot url so I'm currently back to www.temporary-secretary.blogspot.com. Google is having my life right now and I've convinced myself that it's something to do with the domain change, and I was up until 5am sorting it out, but there are still major issues! If anyone can recommend a reliable web/tech/seo person that I can contact, please let me know! I don't really know what issue is so might only need a consultation - but with so many of these companies out there, I don't know who to trust! My blog is like my baby! Thanks in advance! :-)
