Rounding Up 2013

This year, splitting my time blogging both outfit and beauty posts meant that I was able to keep at it at a consistence pace which is what I wanted to do. Last year, I took my blog offline twice and I had a break from it all but I didn't want that in 2013, and a lot of exciting things have happened from it! My favourite outfits of the year are mainly the ones from Summer, I love that time of year and as vain as it sounds, my skin is better in warmer weather with minimal efforts to maintain it! It just makes you feel that little bit more confident, doesn't it, ladies? I've just had a look a my 2012 round up from last December and

An outfit without accessory is like a tea party without cake! My taste in jewellery has changed but I still love accessorising and I think that's what brings a whole outfit together. I've kept it simple this year, but I intend to keep my shoes and bag collection growing in 2014! Oh, yes!

-------------------------------------

I don't know about the other bloggers but I have felt that there's so much emphasis on "statistics" - and I understand the importance of it - but for me, it got to the point where it really got me down. I'd worked hard but felt that I wasn't good enough. It made blogging not as fun so I had to stop myself from thinking that. I'm really hard on myself so I am always aiming for higher!

What I am extremely proud of in 2013 is overcoming fears and personal issues. I decided not to let my anxiety take control of me like it has in the past and I did things that I used to consider scary enough to trigger an anxiety attack. All of this was possible because of this blog! I don't channel any negativity in to this blog (What's the point in doing that? Who will it ever benefit from it? No one), and if I don't feel like myself, I won't blog that day. I still struggle with "positive mental attitude" but I didn't allow the panic stop me from doing things (much!). I got to go to Germany to a blogger event (I flew out there by myself! eeek!), lots of meetings in London, working with Malibu Rum and LOOK Magazine, teaming up with F&F for their party wear campaign (check out our video!) and I also started a YouTube channel.

Other things that happened in my life this year was that I moved in to my own place and I'm really enjoying it but I miss seeing Oscar every day! My mum got a miniature poodle puppy, who I've been bonding with this Christmas (she is a BABE!), and my sister got married in July!

I've had a relaxing end to the year. Christmas at home was very chilled and I enjoyed eating all the cheese, but I'm ready for the new year and to get back to a routine! All there is left to say for now is a big humongous THANK YOU to everyone who has ever visited my blog and follows it. There's always room for new bloggers so if you're thinking of starting one, don't hesitate! It might just be the best thing you've ever done!

Have a HAPPY NEW YEAR, guys! Love to you all! x

Jumper Topshop / Shirt* Baleeblu / Bag* Baleeblu / Sunglasses* RayBan from Pretavoir / Shorts BANK / Boots Office

Don't be baffled by the sunniness that shines through in these photos! We took them just before the weekend and I can assure you that right now, the skies are pouring with rain and it is just as miserable here as it is across the rest of country! I felt quite smug that I didn't need to go out in a big coat and it seemed that I have beaten December's weather! I cheated though, because I'm actually wearing about four layers of clothing here! The ones you can see are the Topshop jumper and the polka dot shirt from Baleeblu. I don't know if it's just my computer screen but the thick jumper is actually a coral shade red but it appears quite pink in the photos. Probably the most "Christmassy" (or wintery) outfit I've worn so far, apart from my Primark Christmas Jumper!

This is the last outfit post for the year, or certainly before Christmas, anyway. I've got a couple of round-up posts to see the year out, t'is the time to feel reflective! There may be a couple of beauty posts as well, but this all depends how comfortable I get during Christmas. I know I'm not the only one who wants to crash out on the sofa watching films, eating chocolate and copious amount of cheese, but I'll be back in January with lots of new content!

I can't believe it is Christmas Eve tomorrow. I go from feeling very festive to not feeling it at all! I'm sure that this will soon change when I go home to see my family and the pets tomorrow!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!

5 Winter Beauty Essentials: Pamper Time!

beauty tips for winter, beauty products for winter

Most of us are now off work until the beginning of January and with this being the first weekend of he festive break, that means pamper time! Especially if you've been running around this week like a headless chicken trying to get everything prepared for Christmas! I went out yesterday to buy the last lot of presents and I'm going Christmas food shopping on Monday (my least favourite part of the holiday season!) so I'm definitely taking this weekend to relax and chill! There are so many other products I could include in this post but here are a few new ones that I've been trying lately which fits in nicely with my pamper time routine this winter!

Jan Marini Holiday Exfoliator

Exfoliate: JAN MARINI Holiday Exfoliator*, RRP £40
I was really excited by this when it arrived! It is the first Jan Marini product I've used and I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was eager to rip it open to reveal what was inside the festive outer packaging! It is limited edition for the holiday season and it is a Sugar Cookie fragrance, which smells deliciously like cookie dough with a subtle hint of cinnamon.

The consistency is similar to cake batter, so it's quite thick but you only need to apply a tiny bit of this product. The exfoliating beads are really tiny so it's gentle and non-abrasive, and it says on the packaging that it's suppose to tingle but I didn't experience that. This exfoliator left my skin feeling polished smooth, and my complexion bright and healthy. It reduces fine lines and has significant anti-ageing benefits. The Christmassy twist to this exfoliator was very much appreciated, you don't often see this with these posh premium beauty companies, especially those with a very typical "clinical" branding.

If your skin is too sensitive for an exfoliator, then I would recommend a scrub like this. I would usually exfoliate once or twice a week and if I need to, I would use a face scrub for the times in between so I'm not at risk of removing all of my skin off! This gel contains cucumber and avocado so it's extremely fresh.

The "bits" in it is actually loofah but unlike an exfoliator, the loofah in this product is sparse and scattered. These days, I tend to prefer scrubs to be quite gritty and beady; so for me, the scrub element in this product didn't feel like it was doing anything for me. However, the formula of the gel itself was great as a cleanser, and it's suitable for days when I don't feel like I need all that much scrubbing! It was cooling and soothing, an invigorating gel with vitamin goodness from avocado oil. Gel based products can sometimes leave my skin feeling "squeaky" and dry but this was moisturising and soothing. It is a great alternative for those with sensitive skin.

Body Moisturiser: STEAMCREAM All-In-One Moisturiser*, RRP £12.95
This moisturiser comes in a beautiful travel-sized tin and can be used on body, face, hands, and feet. Steamcream uses only natural and vegan ingredients directly from sustainable sources, and just look at all the goodness that goes in to it!

It is lightweight, absorbs very quickly and smells lovely. There's nothing worse than a lotion getting greasier and thicker the more you swirl it in to your skin. There are about 50 tin designs to choose from and you can rest easy that this is kind on your body.

Lip Care: CRAZY RUMORS in Gingerbread*, RRP £3.49
It's another limited edition product made just for you for the Christmas holidays! :-) As always, 100% natural lip balms are always welcome with me! I usually buy Burt's Bees lip balms but I have been trying this gingerbread scented one from Crazy Rumors, a brand I have recently been introduced to. It's a fun brand with a lot of other awesome flavours available, but most importantly, the balms are packed with certified organic ingredients like organic Shea butter for it's moisturising properties, and organic jojoba oil for soothing qualities.

I've only been using this for a week and I didn't think I'd ever prefer any other lip balms than the ones from Burt's Bees but the Crazy Rumors balms just as great if not better! They are longer lasting, more moisturising and cheaper too! They are available to buy in Holland and Barretts, I'll be looking out for the cola scented one, and the bubblegum one! The gingerbread scent is perfect for Christmas! I am giving one of these away in the big hamper so head over there and enter, it's a free prize draw!

Cleanser: Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish in Grapefruit and Patchouli, RRP £19.75
I've reviewed this in the original edition and the limited rose and lavender one, and have repurchased this about six times this year! I'm very thankful that Liz Earle products are stocked in Boos now! Being a huge fan of this beauty cult classic, I couldn't resist purchasing the new one! The formula is the same, - it's creamy and gentle, and removes every bit of grime and make up off your face. The only thing that is different is the smell, and this one is by far my favourite compared to the original and the rose and lavender.

I'd love to hear what new beauty products you've been trying and if there are any that you could recommend me! I'm definitely spending the next two weeks pampering!

Christmas Decorations from M&S

Christmas decorations, Christmas decorations from m&s
Christmas decorations, Christmas decorations from m&s

Christmas Decorations* from M&S Marks & Spencer

This year, we decided not to buy a Christmas tree for the flat, but promised ourselves that when we buy a house, we will buy a nice tree and the best decorations! Instead, to give our home a festive feeling, we bought some little things to decorate in the living room and my room. You can see how I've placed them in my room on this room tour video on YouTube. Usually, Marks & Spencer is not my first port of call for all things festive because I didn't even know they would have such a huge range of things to choose from!

The first thing I added to the basket was the wreath, I've always preferred those to light decorations! Then I picked out a miniature Christmas tree and a sweet little robin ornament to sit underneath it. The giant bauble and snowman snow globe were added for the fun element, and the pot pourri is to bring the wonderful fragrance of Christmas in to the room. There was a few scents to choose from but I liked the red petals and green leaves in this one which smells of cloves, mandarin and cinnamon!

It doesn't seem like I've had these in my room for long and I'll find myself packing them up in a box until next December, but I think these decorations make a nice alternative in absence of a tree. A lot of the festive range from M&S are now on sale at 50% each, or 3 for 2 so if you fancy having a look, you might find a couple of bargains to use for next year!

Don't forget to check out how I've decorated my room in this video on YouTube! I'll be making more videos in the new year so please subscribe! :-)

Dress Topshop / Hat Miss Selfridge (similar from ASOS) / Jacket ASOS / Bag* Baleeblu / Shoes* Baleeblu / Watch F&F / Necklace Nikki Lissoni

Second blogpost of the day! There's so much to fit in before Christmas, so the panic has started to set in whilst I figure out a way to cram it all in! Taking a tiny break from it all, I popped to my Mum's house to see Bonnie and Oscar (they are SOOOOOO cute!!!), and they are BFFs now - except for when it's their dinner time, and both are vying to be the first to be fed! Pets will be pets!

This is an outfit I wore a couple of days ago and it is impossible to wear a dress like this and not give it a nautical twist - a trend I absolutely adored when I was at uni. I ended up accessorising this outfit with a small red leather bag with a chain strap and chose the most un-Christmassy nail polish colour but it's my all time favourites from Barry M! Bright yellow in winter? Sure, why not!

The dress I am wearing here is an old one from Topshop, from yeaaars ago! There is a similar one on their website at the moment, which I am tempted to buy but I'm not sure if I suit the straight up-and-down style, especially as it's in a horizontal stripe fabric. Actually, the last time I wore this dress on the blog, I was told that I have wide hips! Ouch! It usually helps when there's a bit of shape in stripy clothing! Are stripes something you find easy to wear?

As the weather takes a turn for the worse, you'll soon see me back in my winter coat (Zzzz! Boring!) Which leads me on to tell you that I bought some cute winter woolies to giveaway so if you're feelin' lucky, then head over to the giveaway post to check it all out!

On a quick side note, I have given Niki a bit of a nudge to start his own blog! I've enjoyed being behind the camera, taking his photos, so hop on over his new menswear fashion blog, give it a follow and let us know what you think!
