Lily Lolo Eyeshadow Palette | Beauty Review

Mineral Eyeshadow Palette
Autumn eyeshadow shades

Lily Lolo Mineral Eyeshadow Palette*

I have never been one of those girls that suited all kinds of eyeshadow colours, so I envy those who have a collection full of beautiful palettes. In my early teen years, I've experimented with blues, greens and purples (with a dash of glitter here and there!) but at the time, I was clearly lacking knowledge of what suited me! I think I was just over-excited that I was finally allowed to wear make-up! Once I figured out what shades I suited, I stuck with it and have never looked back.

I love dark eyeshadows, it makes my small eyes appear much bigger than they actually are so I use matte black and brown eyeshadows daily. This palette from Lily Lolo is a shimmery metallic so is a great one to use for the evenings and nights out. The top two colours are my favourite, a sheer rose gold which makes a great highlight above the brow bone and in the corner of your eyes. I also use it to blend and soften the shadow around my eyes.

The two brown/bronze shades are really pigmented but the black comes out as pewter. I am used to dark dark black so was a bit disappointed by this. Overall, the shadows are high quality and are very velvety and silky, it's such a unique formula. It contains jojoba oil for it's nourishing, non-drying properties and the powder is strangely kind of creamy and easy to blend.

Lily Lolo products are free from parabens and perfumes. The brand does not test on animals and are vegan friendly.

What I Wore: Cat Sweater

Cat Sweater* Skip N' Whistle / Denim Shorts Glamorous

It is a good job that I took these photos last week because after living a week in this sweater every evening after work, it's sure looking less crisp and clean! Time for these three cats to get a good wash! I rearranged our lounge and it's more cosy now, all I've done is curl up in front of the tv.... even though I have so much work to be getting on with!  You can see why I love this sweater so much, right?! Cats are the best! (IMO). This arrived right bang in the middle of Summer so I've been waiting for the colder weather to wear it and I've become too attached to it. It's just so nice and snuggly to wear! If you're a fan of cats like me, then Skip N' Whistle might be the one for you! My beady eye has spotted some quirky Christmas sweaters so I'll be having a proper look later on!

So, there reason why I was moping on the sofa this weekend was because I am feeling fairly nervous about this trip to London this week which is for a social media project. With all this talk about the UK Storm, I spent the whole weekend panicking! The weather is fine up north (for once!) but as we've all heard in the news, it has been disruptive down south. I'm someone who likes to plan a schedule to follow, but I don't prepare a "plan B" because in my mind, having a second plan means something will go wrong with the first and once I get that in to my head, I'll be expecting something to go wrong all day. That probably sounds so stupid so some people, but I like to deal with issues when they arise because they're not likely to happen and I have to realise I don't have control over everything. This is how I have learnt to avoid an unnecessary panic attack over a problem that is basically non-existent, ie. something that hasn't happened yet and most likely will not happen. My anxiety flared up these past couple of days and I worried myself sick yesterday with all the "what if" questions. What if I can't get to London, what if I get stranded, what if something bad happens to the train - I drove myself insane and ended up feeling nauseas and stressed. The last thing I want is to let anyone down, so I had to rest and try to stay calm (Note to self: Do not read the Daily Mail!). I'll try to get some blog posts scheduled for the next few days but because I've not been on my computer over the weekend, I might struggle with getting some content together tonight! I'll come back from London in one piece, I will have had a very happy time and I'll have lots of lovely photos to show you soon! (positive mental attitude!) x

What I Wore: Blue Floral Smock Dress

Smock Dress* Chicnova / Jacket ASOS / Bag Mulberry / Boots Office

I have a love-hate relationship with smock dresses. One minute, I love the comfort of it being oversized and the next, I'm fretting about whether the baggy fit suits me or not. Some people have said that they look a lot like maternity wear (stylish one at that!) but something about these style of dresses make them difficult to resist. Every time I buy one, I'll tell myself "ok, this is the last one I'll buy" but I can never help myself.

This blue floral one from Chicnova is quite wide-fitting, as smocks tend to be but it's a tad too short for me and would probably class this as a tunic style. Having said that, I think that smock dresses look better when it's shorter, but this way this one makes me feel self-conscious. It doesn't look to bad from the front, and it probably isn't all that much of an issue but I find myself constantly clutching the back of the dress to make sure my butt is covered. The fabric is thicker than I thought which was nice, made it feel suitable to wear during Autumn.

I also like the pattern of the material which is what drew my eye to this when I was browsing on Chivnova. It would have been really helpful if they photographed it on a model but it's great that they have the length measurements on the product description, some of our high street brands lack this information which I find annoying. Do you go for your usual dress size, or do you opt for a smaller size when you buy a smock?

Chicnova offers free worldwide shipping, they deliver fairly quickly and you can get 20% off your first order - details can be found on the website.

Just a quick note to let you all know that I forgot to put the giveaway details on my F&F post yesterday. If you'd like to win £50.00 to spend on a new outfit or two, please click here for details on how to enter (it's really easy!) Good luck! x

What To Wear: To A Christmas Party

F&F A/W 2013 Partywear Photoshoot | Video

Christmas Party Wear Clothes

(Photos by David Titlow / Stylish Hannah Eichler)

At the beginning of August, an opportunity presented itself for the chance to be involved with F&F's A/W Partywear campaign and it was all very top secret until now! Everyone was still enjoying the Summer sunshine at the time and it was far too early to mention Christmas parties anyway!

Six weeks ago, the day of the shoot had arrived, and it began with a 3 hour train journey (at 5am!!) to London. I found myself walking in to a very bright, white studio in Shoreditch, East London - but not without getting lost first! It was a busy day with a lot of exciting things going on but the thing I was most looking forward to was meeting the other four bloggers that were involved; Sherin, Rebecca, Annie and Caroline. They were such a lovely group of girls, we were in our little blog bubble for the day and I felt right at ease, which is unusual if you know me in real life! You will usually find me flapping with nerves but this day was different, I was in good company. I should have known better than to worry, as they whole team were nothing but professional, yet easy going and super friendly.

Above is the video from the photo shoot, I didn't know what to expect but I am so pleased with the outcome. It captures the fun and energetic rapport that was present throughout the day. I don't normally do things like this but I've always thought that it's nice to see another dimension to bloggers in video and see another aspect to their personality, that we don't get to see though still imagery. Like I know that sometimes I can look moody in photos but really, I'm not! (Ok, maybe sometimes when I'm hungry!) I have always wanted to make short videos like this as an extension to my blog posts but I just don't know where to begin! I've done short OOTD vids a few off my phone but the quality is not so good.

Can anyone recommend a camera that is best for filming footage? Is it called "footage"?! I have so much to learn. There are also some photos from the day to go with the video, which I will share with you soon, along with some party wear chit-chat. I need to go through all my images first and narrow down the shortlist! I hope you love the video as much as I do and I'd love to know what you think, please leave a comment with your thoughts!

Autumn Outfit: Pussycat London Dress

Dress* Pussycat London / Blouse River Island / Trench Coat Miss Selfridge / Bag* Barratts

After taking the whole week off blogging, I am full of energy to get a whole bunch of content published! As mentioned in my last blog post seven days ago, I was ill with a cold and had spend most of the week resting in bed. Usually when I get a cold, they would last at least a month whilst I get on with life but I basically locked myself indoors for the entire time, making sure I looked after myself and that I got better ASAP. I have got lots of work stuff going at the end of the month and November which I didn't want to be poorly for. I don't want anything to make me lose focus. Staying wrapped up for a few days totally worked though, I got rid of that cold in less than a week! I was starting to go a little crazy by Friday, craving the fresh air. Today, I admired the rainbow from my window (photo above) and watched the heavy rain, thunder and lightning last night. Yesterday, I mustered the energy to wash my hair, put on my new dress and went out to run some errands. I had my sister and her husband visiting so I popped out ("I only popped out...") to buy ingredients for dinner and then stopped by a local organic bakery to get a dessert, a lovely treacle tart. We watched their wedding DVD, and caught up with each other's lives.

The dress I'm wearing in the first photo is from Pussycat London, and it caught my eye because of the print. The colour of the fabric goes well with my bag, which is from Barratts! The quality is much better than I thought it would be, and there are so many sections and compartments inside! It is sold out on the website but it might still be available in stores. I'm not so keen on shooting outfit photos indoors because my flat is terribly lit, we have small windows, (shown in the fourth photo) and it's difficult to get nice photos taken. Anyway, I have to resort to using the flash on my camera. Niki is super busy at work for the next two months so I've reunited with my old pals, the camera remote and the tripod! (Ah, it has been a while!) I guess we're back to how it used to be, the whole focus on the actual clothes and less about a "beautiful backdrop". I'm sure you ladies are going through the same dilemma of when to shoot outfit/product pics, it sucks we start losing the light from 3pm! I guess we should be used to it by now, but it still always take a few weeks to adjust!

What I Wore: Pink Flamingos On My Shirt

Shirt* PersunMall / Jeans Miss Selfridge / Bag* BritStitch / Sunglasses RayBan / Shoes* Freed Of London / Watch Swatch

Currently, I am tucked up in bed with the warmth of the laptop keeping me toasty! I refuse to put the heating on, it's not cold enough yet and I can layer up! I caught a cold this weekend, probably from taking my coat off to get these photos but it wasn't that cold, just windy! Don't think I'll venture outside this week, time for hibernation! I've checked the weather for the next 5 days and it's raining, raining, raining! Hate this time of year, sooo miserable! I need to get rid of this cold asap because I am going to London again in a couple of weeks time and the last thing I want is to feel bogged down with this stupid cold! I've stocked the fridge up with plenty of orange juice and a pack of Lockets is currently my BFF. Although I think I might treat myself to a full tub of Ben&Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie... you know, only to numb my sore throat. Of course! (Any excuse for chocolate fudge ice cream!)

This outfit didn't keep me warm but I did wear my beige trench coat which is from Miss Selfridge and IN THE SALES NOW! I don't think it went with what I was wearing (fashion faux pas) so I took it off for the photos. My shirt collection is growing and the latest addition is this cute sheer blouse from PersunMall, it has pink flamingos on it and I thought it is a nice twist on the "animal print" thing. I think I've actually only seen real flamingos once, and that was in Florida.

Hope you've all had a wonderful weekend. Clueless is on Film4 / Film4 +1 right now so I'm typing this up really quickly so I can go and watch it! x
